not paying attention while in an area where the granite looks to be completely smooth but you all of a sudden hit a 3 foot drop off and scrape your bumper, shift your dual batteries, and sandwich your bed against the cab of the truck…my camper shell hit my cab window and broke it

Nice and tall. Find a milk crate to help stabilize while in use.

Off the top of my head I’ve done Bald, Shuteye, Strawberry Lake, West Lake and the surrounding area. I remember Shuteye being like Bald. You can make it as hard or as easy as you like and on top you have a great hangout spot with awesome views. Swap, Coyote, and Dusy are considered difficult so I haven’t tried those yet. Brewer Lake isn’t so bad until the end where some people just park their trucks and take a short walk to the lake. Depending how built your truck is and or you don’t care what happens to your truck you can do the last part of Brewer Lake.

I think I was there for that trip. We took a few people up the day before the main run. BBQ at the top and chilled before coming back down and splitting ways at the trail head. The rest went camping at Base Camp on Tamarack side. Speaking of Tamarack, that is another trail entrance you can get to Bald Mountain.

I’d be down to hit up brewer lake one day. Saw videos of swamp lake and looks pretty hard.

    4 run, 2 don't
We've only talked on and off in various threads.

I know he's close by that's it; should be living in the 559 by October though.

Community clean up effort/ Knights Ferry!

Hi all! I'm no professional organizer or planner but I feel compelled to do something about the extreme trash situation at the Knights Ferry covered bridge river area. I am new to the region and have been doing my share of exploring and when I found out how close I lived to the Knights Ferry river area I quickly started to take advantage of all its fun and beauty. One thing That kept standing out to me was the immense amount of trash that was EVERYWARE. I'm not talking usual junk at the picnic area but all along the trails and river banks, it was awful. My uncle who likes to climb was with me one day enjoying the boulders in the area and we got to talking about starting a clean up effort. Somehow get the wheeling, climbing, fishing and overall outdoor community out to clean BBQ and mingle. If anyone has any ideas or input that would help I'm all ears. We have no date set up because we are testing the waters for interest. What do yall think?

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Don't set the date for the weekend of August 13, 14, 15

Any other (weekend) date. I'm in.

To make sure there is best turnout you want to give at least, about, 2 weeks notice. I would also make it about it being a "meet up" WITH a clean up effort. The parking lot at Knights Ferry is plenty big enough for a whole lot of trucks.

Edit... July 18th would probably be a bad choice as well. A lot of us are going to a meet up in Roseville.

    Then let's make it happen!

I don't go to KF often, but it is a special place to me. My oldest son and daughter-in-law got married on the river just up stream of the bridge.
