MT Accumulator Delete Mod (ADM) and BS Thread

i dremel’d. Just bc it meant I didn’t have to buy anything. Well until I couldn’t reach the recessed bolt on the heat shield so I bought a flex head ratchet.

But I would think it would slightly easier to just add the flex brake line thingy.but again hardest part is just getting it off which you have to do both ways.

 

Anyone have an extra accumulator laying around and are willing to ship to Canada? I’ll cover shipping + trouble costs!

 

At that point you may as well order the part from your local dealer. Lol

Has anyone ever had the dealership remove the accumulator for them? I tried searching this thread for an answer but couldn't find anything. I'm just nervous about doing it on my own since I'm not familiar with any type of engine work (especially with having to bleed lines).

 

Very few dealers will do modification work. Most lift kits and project trucks that you see at dealers are either done by secondary shops or a select group at the dealer. Typically, they work to what the OEM gives them.


Learning to bleed is a good thing. All vehicles should have a bleed every few years at a minimum. Try it out on brakes as they are a bit easier to do. It is something that can be self taught. Basically, never relieve pressure on the pedal / lever until the bleed nipple is closed. That's it.

Brakes are:
-- Pressure on the pedal
-- Crack the bleed nipple, let fluid come out, and close the nipple
-- Let the brake pedal come back up
-- Pump the brake to regain pressure
-- Repeat until virgin fluid flows out

Clutches are:
-- Pedal to the floor
-- Crack the bleed nipple, let fluid come out, and close the nipple
-- Pull the pedal up off of the floor
-- Pump the clutch to regain pressure
-- Repeat until all air is out / virgin fluid flows out


Seriously though, if I can ham-fist my way through it, most anybody can get there.

Of course, there are also remedies for mess ups that happen.

 

You can get any local shop do it for you. That is what I did, cost me 60$.

Had to google some of those terms (a little risky while at work lol) to get a visual, but doesn't seem too bad once you broke it down. I think I'll pick up an extra one and dremel it so that I'll have a backup in case I mess up.

I just worry that if I have any kind of problem they'll point to the removal and deny any warranty claims

 

If they see no accumulator and you complain about any kind of clutch/tranny problem, they will do everything to blame it on the mod. But honestly if you have any issues with the clutch, most likely they won’t warranty it since it’s a wear item.

 

Yeah. Just about anything can bring up interesting sites these days. Be sure to pick up a good line wrench, I have these: You only need the 10mm one.



On the warranty side, there is not much of the clutch system that will get a warranty repair. Most of it is considered a wear item and will be a good fight no matter what.

There is a tsb out on some of the clutch wear components, especially if you're getting any kind of creek out of the pedal. Get that done first so there's really no reason for them to look at your accumulator.

Folks with the updated clutch pedal are still getting noises. A dremeled accumulator would be unnoticeable for that TSB, even when bleeding the system.

But doesn’t lithium grease solve the creaking? I had the TSB done pretty much a few months after I bought my truck. It started creaking again about couple months later for a week or so then it stopped. Been about 2 years on the “new” assembly and no funny noises.
