Harbor Freight tools thread.

Had that exact same carrier. No problems at all with a DRZ400. Drove it from NC to AL.

 

I used to use mine with a cap and a CT90 at about 180lbs, zero issues aside from the little wheel indents not being spaced well for it. Could be fixed by drilling a couple holes for the cross pieces.

 

Easy to load/unload?

 

Yeah. I would walk the bike up in gear. The ramp mounted on either side(or I just did it wrong) and walk it down. Just don't twist the throttle too hard
My DRZ was rated at 291lbs.

 

Bought semi permanent blue threadlocker for my kitchen fauct handle that keep coming lose. $2.29, been few mths now still good to go. Guess its just as good as Loctite for half the cost but had drive there.

 

Well I am on vacation and found a HF, that actually had it in stock, so I decided to buy the carrier. Wow, the box is huge. Had to reorganize my entire bed/cap in the lot to get it to fit. Its about 7' long.

Plan to be going to the shore in 2 weeks to pick up my moped. We will see how it does.

Surprised you are the first to mention this. I am probably going to pickup a workbench. Remodeling the house with a 1 1/2 year old kiddo so we have the area blocked off. Figure I can fit most of the dangerous stuff in the drawers and get rid of the barricade.

 

That’s almost the hardest age to have a kid while remodeling. Second to newborn when you’re not getting any sleep and trying to prevent having extra dust and fumes. That’s a great tool bench though!

 

gonna go a bit OT here, but in regards to HF power tools. With how shit basically any new tool is, HF isn't that far behind. I came from auto, so, entire snap on setup the works etc, used to having quality tools. Over the years, and the various "jobs" I have had, I've had the need for more construction based tools. Pawn shops man.... or ebay... there's something going on (well actually I know there is to a degree with Milwaukee). You can pickup new if not damn near new team red or yellow for the price of HF crap.

So, I carry 2 brands, the "good shit" and the "fuck it if I lose it or falls off my truck" shit. I was Milwaukee paired with Black and Decker (I think I even commented about this on another thread), anyways, needed some new lawn tools because the black and deckers were just clapped out from being run into the ground, beat to piss, ran hard and left wet their whole lives. Figured, fuck it, lets just go to HF it's just as good now. Bought a leaf blower, because that was apparently the biggest need at the time, I feel after the battery etc I'm $200+ deep into this shit. I already know I'm going to tangent again shortly.... so I buy all that, end up at HD later, see a team red blower for $180 or whatever, and figured.... well... I already have like 5 batteries, why exactly am I buying HF? So I return the works.

Used red once. let it sit. And this is where I'm starting to use my new compound crapsman. Oh boy, what a pile of fucking shit that tool is. I previously had a used Hitachi (was my go-to brand for plug in tools) 12", but wasn't compound, and just a total PITA to lug around. I've been to enough big box stores so many times, I can tell you off the top of my head what brands they carry for tools, electrical (outlets light switches even), lighting, fucking flooring, fans, etc. As far as I'm concerned, it's all the same shit with a different color. Now that Hitachi is Metabo, they aren't even good anymore. The only (and select) brands left are red and yellow.

So, I picked up as of most recent, of all things, a 1/2 impact

$125 Milwaukee M18 Cordless Lithium-Ion 6-1/2" Circular Saw - 2630-20 - ( MILWAUKEE ) - BARE TOOL

Milwaukee M18 brushless, with a 6ah XC battery, from the pawn shop for $200. It's a bit beat, but... if it ever breaks, they cost roughly 3/7ths the price of a new tool to get repaired. It's a win win no matter what. I know they have 2 new in packaging 6ah XC batteries for $65 a pop. I will probably be grabbing those shortly, even though I'm at battery fucking overload at this point.

To play the other side, since it seems people have forgot that things can be repaired and not thrown away... consider buying used. You may come out ahead, and have better gear.

(*other tangent, fuck that leaf blower. I think they stick money in the regular tools, but sling out the same shit as everyone else for nonsense crap like a leaf blower. I think for yard I'm just gonna go stihl again. Fuck husqvarna now, unless you have old gear, it's just like craftman. used to be good, total cheap shit now)

 

Ended up going with the blue one. No more barricade.

3. LOL
4. File homeowners insurance claim.
