The scout camp is across the lake. There's a ramp and 5 or 6 sites. Pit toilet, no showers. And the lake appears to have plenty of largemouth bass! :)

I was talking about the Pipeline with a coworker who is familiar with the area. I mentioned that I was looking for spots to camp and he suggested it, along with some other spots.

I can't seem to find anything about it online. I will have to check for information at the campgrounds when I get up there. I saw some people camping there a few weeks ago, and they definitely weren't boy scouts.

@Thatbassguy I'm interested in some wheeling action on 7/10, won't be camping though. I'll watch this thread for the plan

We'll meet at this park and ride at 10:00am on Saturday:

    Park and ride
    https://maps.google.com/?cid=985578982399623565&entry=gps

And probably meet somewhere similar on Sunday morning if anyone is unable to make it Saturday.

Let's talk Thursday and see what works. I might head up Thursday night if I can get out of work early enough. You're welcome to join me. If Thursday isn't going to work due to stupid work, We can roll up Friday.

I may come up either the 10th or the 11th. Not sure yet as I have a ton going on at work.

What radio's are most using, CB or GMRS. I don't currently have any but looking to possibly pick something up. Any suggestions?

    I
I have both, so I’m good with whichever you choose. Last year we were all using CB radios.

An inexpensive CB is ideal. Eventually, I think we're all switching to GMRS. But, most of the people I go with are on CB.

I'll have to check out your GMRS setup.

Mine is just a basic handheld, you can get a 2 pack of the Midland GTX series for around $75. We tested them here in Madison and got at least 2 miles.

Might have to grab one of them. I should look into getting a license for that.

I got my license about a year ago and never bought the hardware. So you can be part of my family lol.

    Looking at this cb https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00000K2YR?_encoding=UTF8

Think it'll work ok with the included stubby antenna? I'm not looking to spend a ton or permanent install as it would probably only be used for these outings.

Thanks for the info so far guys!

My CB is ancient. For the trip last year I bought the cheapest magnetic mount antenna they had at Farm & Fleet. It worked fine for me.

I ran the same CB for a year or 2 with a magnet mount antenna. It was fine. We really don't need a ton of range for what we're doing.

Who is all camping Friday night?

And, when is everyone heading up?

I have to attend a funeral in the morning that I suspect will last until noon or 1. I'm also expecting some goodies on Friday, but I will probably just head up after the funeral unless the stuff arrives before I get back from the funeral.

If anyone is going up earlier, let me know if you're willing to secure us a site and save room for the rest of us.

I'm pretty sure @Pixeltim and @McSpazatron are heading up Friday. I can't recall who else, though.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone!!
