I think Nick is our only guy in SC. Send him a PM. Or check the list and Map to see who is closest. The list is on the first post of this thread.

Phich! I'll try to make it this time! That trip to Hidden Falls a few weeks ago was a doozy... Couldn't meet up, external events took precedence

This 2018 OR AT has around 26k miles. I have to drive it in S-6 for the transmission not to be all over the place on the highway, especially down here going over the overpasses. It makes a big difference in S-6... getting ~20mpg that way. If I use it in D, I'll get around 17-18mpg, but the transmission is locked into 5, sometimes 4

I'm the 3rd owner so don't know if it's ever been tuned. Past service reports say it's had the transmission, fuel pump, and AC TSB updates/repairs.

Have you had much luck down here with these types of meets?

Never done a RGV meet so we shall see! I already have four people on the list, if you make it that will be five - 'TAKES FIVE TO MAKE THE DRIVE' is the phrase I use for distance tuning

Got another 04c21 truck tuned today. All went well and the truck is on the KDMax tune. Another happy customer!

Got about 750 miles on my truck since the tune, thought I would share my experience.

First, thanks to Alan @xXgOdLyXjEwXx for agreeing to meet with me while I was out of town on a work trip. He made it quick and easy and helped me have realistic expectations of what to expect. If you're in the North East, hit him up! And of course thanks to @PapaRee and @TWTaco

In Feb I purchased a 21 TRD Offroad with a manual transmission. I wanted the tune to make my new truck drive like my 07 with the 4.0 and I went with the XT tune. While it doesn't quite get there, it is way better than it was stock. While I don't expect to be ripping around in a truck like one might in a tuner car, the acceleration and rough nature of the original tune was so disappointing that I wondered if I made a mistake moving out of my old truck.

To be clear, in my experience at least, the truck is not a "rocket" like some here would suggest. In fact, if there is an increase in power at all, its barely noticeable. What it DID do was made the throttle input much more linear, moved some much needed torque to the lower end of the RPM range (starting at 2k), allows me to pull a gear up a hill rather than always having to shift down 1 (sometimes 2), and smoothes the delivery of power where I no longer get huge peaks and dips in power when 50% or more of the throttle is applied (though it is still slightly there...). Additionally, my fuel economy seems to have crept up to about 20.5 mpg over the term and that's with 265/75 16 Load Range E tires, RSI cap, AND a RTT up there! Anything over 20 and I'm stoked!

To keep this brief, I would say that the tune is 100% worth it since in my humble opinion the truck was garbage without it. Even with the manual, it is obvious that a lot of thought went into how to get some performance out of this engine as it relates to how trucks are used. I'm sure those of you with slush boxes have even more to be happy with since that seems to be the BIGGEST problem with the driveability of these trucks! Glad I don't deal with that!

    Cheers!

Tuned my '17 OR DCLB a day before a 1,350 mile road trip. Colorado --> Utah --> Arizona --> NM --> Colorado. Pulled a 2,000 lb off-road camping trailer through the whole thing. I think we covered a total of 9 mountain passes during the trip. I could write all about how great the tune drives - especially when stomping that pedal to pass someone - but I won't go into it.

I can sum up my experience with the tune with this: I passed another 3rd gen Tacoma going up a pass road at 10,000+ feet with my trailer and I could hear his engine at redline while we pushed past him uphill at close to 75mph. My truck without the tune would've struggled to get up to that speed without a trailer. The look on his face was priceless. (Apologies if you're a TW member - maybe look into the KDMax tune.)

Read everyone else's reviews - they are all correct - this is what the Tacomas should drive like.

No run - it was a 18 mile to summit and 18 miles back down. I just got tired of following the line of people who could pass but wouldn't. Once the passing lane came up, I downshifted to 4th and took it. I was at 5,800rpm, but it held steady there and we sailed by everyone.
