Unless you've been asleep this is a major rising problem in every state in the country, punch in a search and you will find article after article, it stems all the way back to the mines in the third world countries that dig up these precious metals. Anything that slows them down will help, at 1000 to 2000 bucks a pop, plus limited availability and the hassle of dealing with all of the paperwork and the repair shop I went with the cable clamp option, it's cheap and will make it hard to cut. If you have ever used a sawzall on a loose board and it just wiggles the wood with out cutting you'll understand why this method works.

Son you are all kinds of mistaken, and don't understand the magnitude of the theft problem, sticking your head in the sand won't make it go away.

Mistaken? SON, I'm sure including my delivery vehicles when I owned my autos parts stores and my current 4 vehicles, I've owned over 100 vehicles with catalytic converters and have NEVER had one converter stolen.
So it's certainly not something I'm worried about. In fact, if I did have one stolen I'd just contact my insurance company and wouldn't think twice about it.

Can't understand why people can't seem to be happy unless they have something to worry about, such as their catalytic converter getting stolen. Makes no sense to me.

You can just move on and let us come up with a solution to this supposed imaginary problem. We didn't ask anyone to heal us.

I had the cat stolen off of my Honda Accord a few weeks ago, but they didn’t touch my truck that was also in my driveway. The muffler shop owner told me that the thieves tend to target certain vehicles. 2003-2008 Honda’s are huge right now. When I was getting mine replaced, 2 more people with the same vehicle called in about stolen cats

    URD Y-pipe: Like it:thumbsup:

Kind of hard to pay $300+ for one of these shield when for only ~$200 more I could have the URD Y-pipe (And avoid a $100+ exhaust pipe cross over mod at the same time.

Also, I am not crazy about all the logos cut into the Cat Security plate... If it were just plain with some slots; I bet the avg. crack head would just look under and see he can't easily get to the cats and move one... But all the anti-cat stealing logos is kind of like taunting him :taco:... he might be more inclined to slash a tire or kick in the door. My $0.02

For now, I guess I'll roll the dice, if mine gets jacked I'll buy the URD pipe versus $500 deductible. (God help any tweaker I catch in the process)

for 300 bucks I could sell and produce mine in 1/4”, that would also be a functional off road skid plate.

YUP! The front loooooong bolt is a PITA. That's why I omitted it in favor of the 4 drilled nutsert/security bolts. Figured I could (fairly) easily remove the cat shield for ATF & transfer case maintenance with the security bolts, so I went that way.

Of course, I've had second thoughts about......whether I should have used the provided zinc chromate coated steel nutserts vs the stainless ones I used. Oh well....I did my best, lovingly spraying zinc cold galvanized paint into the holes I cruelly drilled into my 2019 TRD OR's frame. Oh well.....such is life! :)

Its been mostly the Prius that gets hit around here but more recently a few trucks have gotten jacked. They should waste less time cutting out the useless branding stuff and cut the price by 50 bucks.

Well, wanted to update this thread.

I had my buddy come over with a 2019 Tacoma. Had to make some minor adjustments, but i have confirmed fitment on a 3rd gen Tacoma. 100% bolt up.

    here are some pictures.
Note, this was some older aluminum used for mock up so it’s a little tarnished

    Talon2006,
That's a great looking shield that you made.
I agree with what others have said, anything you can do to slow down the thief helps your chances of protecting your cat.
That being said, if the meatheads want it, they will get it.
When I had my used car lot I sent a lot of the cheap trade ins to the junkyard. I gotta say, I got pretty good at removing cats. It's amazing where you car reach with a 9" sawzall blade.
Some vehicles like the Chrysler minivan were a PITA (cat is at a weird angle between the motor/ firewall. I learned to sling a chain around it and give it a good tug with my truck. This would snap the manifold bolts right off. If it was raining and I didnt want to get wet laying on the ground hooking up the chain, I'd grab the sawsall and jump inside the van to cut out a chunk of the floor to access the cat. I never had a cat I couldn't get out.
Hopefully you can keep track if the people that purchase your shield and let us know if the thief's bypass any of them.
    Good luck.

That Explains why my Ford transits got them cut out, but my dodge caravans got their windows smashed out of spite but nothing taken from them in my work lot. Lol, dodge can’t make a brake system to handle weather changes, but they hid the hell out of those cats.

    Thank you,

I agree, there is always a way to defeat anything.
My goal is to hopefully send them down the road.

While I have only been making cat shields under my brand for a short time, I used to be the manufacture for another popular brand. Out of the 1000’s I have made only one has been tested. They cut it 3-4 inches and gave up.

I also live in California and was looking into Getting the cat security but they only have a 4wd option but I have the rwd. I know I want to get something to avoid getting robbed since I have a buddy who got his stolen back in April and still hasn't got it replaced from the dealer. He has a tundra but still
