Hi everyone, I have a 2008 Tacoma and sometimes out of the blue my engine starts bogging down and it becomes difficult to accelerate. Once my check engine lights starts flashing I pull over to the side of the road and turn my car off and on again, at this point once I start driving again the engine seems to run fine. Would anyone know what the problem is?

Well my truck at this point has been running with a misfire so it’s thrown a lot of codes but up until this point it’s been running fine. This issue mainly happens while I’m driving up a hill and I try to floor the gas pedal but the car doesn’t speed up at all.

It also turns on a flashing check engine light when the problem occurs

I would try swapping coil packs around and see if the code follows. How many miles on the truck?

    Scan for codes.
    See what cylinder(s) are misfiring.

It could be a fuel delivery issue.

Flashing CEL = BAD misfire. You're going into limp mode to prevent damage to the engine. Put new plugs in, because it will be apart anyways, and then start testing coils.
