Congrats! Communication is the best way to go. Just lay out your plan for the lathe, and then ask her what her actual thoughts are on the subject.

I mean, despite being young and a millennial doesn't mean I'm like the rest. Our Kubota diesel utility truck thing decided yesterday it wouldn't shut off. I walk over just casually, they were going to unhook the battery to get it to shutoff. I was like "pretty sure that's not gonna work guys, that thing is mechanically injected. Not only that but the alternator already received the excite signal" Everybody else was thinking about what to do. I mulled it over a second and raised the bed. Went over to the injection pump and shut it off by hand. One of them looked at me like I was a wizard. The shut off solenoid decided it wanted to quit. I did kind of screw myself; pretty sure they are just gonna order the part and I'm gonna have to put it on there. Gonna be a chore as the thing is used to plow and salt so it's very crispy...

Quick update on my goings on today. It took a good 4.5 hours to get this one spindle assembly completed. I throw a few before pictures up later. My cousin is a great help and gets a little frustrated with me, but I'm not about to go at this all willynilly. Had to get my head wrapped around the proper order of operation. 20210703_115221.jpg

Wife and daughter working some today too. She cut a bunch up off the first one and I ask you want to try pulling it with your truck. She's mad at me for not suggesting that first I think.20210703_120358.jpg

That’s funny! Makes you kind of wish they would think to do that but then that’s what WE ARE FOR.... I guess.

Not as interesting of project as some I’ve seen here but a simple one... I hate tossing tools in trash when business end still works. So a few months back I made this on a rainy day to fix Harbor Junk Freight broken tape measure. Still need a better way to wind it back up but it does work. It was the first I built but i’d Probably spend a little more time to make it work smoother on next one. Could’ve been better but it works.....
