I just wanted to comment on this briefly that while I got the air con con-air reference (it was good) For dying in the desert airplane movies, the original and subsequent reproduction of Flight of the Phoenix are both very good.

Well, Opal would absorb more heat than talc...so if you were scanning surface temperatures on a grid with a robot you could most likely identify PROBABLE areas of deviation from the average temperature that would indicate a different material than the general rocks...
    Something like that...
    That's what i was thinking

Guy Fiere(?) (sorta) does this with his cooking show. All of the perishables are donated to the local food banks and schools. I had no idea that they offloaded all the movie props for cheap, and that they were authentic pieces of clothing. Huh.

And since you're on a Nic cage movie kick, in the 2005 film "Lord of War" the production team bought 3,000 real firearms rather than props because it was more cost effective to resell the real guns after they finished the film.

The weird thing is the shoes/sneakers...They had tons of them that looked so beat, but were brand new. They age them so they look worn, but the soles are brand new...There was a pair of 2012 air jordans that would be worth $200+ if they were a men's size but they were a kids 5.5...$15...So weekend warrior dad could make someones day picking those up for their 10 year old...

That's awesome. Do kids these days still want the "worn" look on their expensive jeans/shoes or are they more about their name brands looking pristine?

I grew up in the era of Jnco jeans, so my fellows were just overall retarded. But I recall in High School that having name brands that were "stressed" was the fashion to wear.

I never figured out how to be cool and I'm still wearing T-shirts and cargo shorts I owned in High School.

Couldn’t tell ya on the distressed kind of look. All I wear is my old soccer warmup pants when it’s cold and shorts. Occasionally khakis or chinos. I own 1 pair of jeans that my dad bought the wrong size. Haven’t worn any in 5 years at least.

That and I’ve never been a fashion freak. Whatever’s comfy and cheap works. Plus as I’ve gradually had tk start buying my own wardrobe over the past year or so, I’ve been less inclined to spend money on that. The most recent thing I bought clothing wise would be another snow jacket and snowboard boots. Before that it was some biking shoes. I’m stingy.

Frugal is a better word. I'm not stingy at all but I'm very frugal.

Frugal is probably correct until you go and place a $20k bet on a stock. Frugal would mean you just buy ETFs and index funds ;)

I have never bought an article of clothing in my life.
Except purpose specific stuff (hunting, motorcycle, etc )
Everything else, dress or casual has been a gift.

48 and yes. Well, not always special occasion gifts. I mean my parents bought me clothes of course, and my wife does now and it's my money so not really a gift I guess.
    I hate shopping.

Well that's fair I guess. You're skirting the line between you buying them and your wife buying them lol.

I order all my underwear and socks online. I'm quite particular. I have socks I wear for summer and for winter. I need them all to be the same within two classes so I can quickly match all of them up in the wash.

My GF can't be trusted to maintain my clothing hierarchy.

@theesotericone we're headed out to fly fish the the Truckee early tomorrow over by Donner. It's low, really low. Catch and release of course, but I don't think anything's gonna bite when the river is basically the remnants of a piss stream in the shower.

Quarter to 1 and it just started dumping rain out here. That's not something I think I've ever seen in Reno. Midnight rains are just not a thing.

I’m assuming there’s fires somewhere out there since it’s summer. Hopefully rains help with that. AZ got more today. Probably about .3 of an inch in the areas it did rain. Fires started early here this summer unfortunately since last “monsoon” season did not exist.

Oh yah, lots of shit is on fire right now. We just never get midnight rains. This is honestly really weird. I've got a couple pics from this afternoon of the fire bombers leaving KRTS and flying over my house I'll put them in the post below.
