I am not suffering buyer's remorse. I looked at the Chevy and did not want to spend the $50k+ for the options that I wanted. I like my creature comforts. That is why I am in the process of transforming the cab of my truck into what I want. Again I waill say, I am happy with my truck. But, if we can not haul anything with these trucks, then why call them a truck? It is a 4000 lb truck. It should be capable of hauling stuff in the bed and a trailer without any trouble. If the TSB is designed give you a stiffer ride and to up the capacity of these trucks, then it should be done upon request if your truck is under warranty. I bought a truck, not a prius.

Going to a dealership for service eh? *bonks OP on the noggin* well heres your problem...

Toyota and dealership are not interchangable terms, one aint the other. If you love your truck but dont like the dealers service dept, then go find another one that you do like. Thats what your weels are for sir, to carry you to new places that youd rather be!

In reply to the quoted post above by ShaShasBoo witout requoting it, I think the issue here is that he posted this on a forum for, read the banner at the top of your screen carefully, "tacoma owners & enthusiasts". It would be like going to the 'tree-huggers anonymous' forums and telling them how much you love being a lumberjack.

Go north to Palmiero Toyota in Meadville. I drive south past dealers in Erie over an hour to buy from them. VERY highly recommended. Worth the trip.

I sorta wish i worked at a chevy dealer for that trade in , goes like this ...........
" yea , another toyota , we cant sell em all keep coming in(lie)" ..........
.after the deal , used car lot...
"awsome deal, guy had to sell it due to his wife dying and the dog was heartbroken , a shame (lie)".....net gain , $2000-3000 on the trade in , $2000 more on the sale. or something like that

I know a lot of posts have stated that you don't qualify for the TSB, but I have seen many who have posted that they took their truck in for the TSB and had it done who had similar or even less issues than you have described. You've made it clear that the dealer you bought the truck from has idiots working in their service department, and there is about zero chance that they will ever even consider doing the TSB. If the tech thinks the TSB will make the hauling capacity less than the OEM springs, you need to run from that place. I wouldn't have them replace a light bulb.

It seems like you need to make a choice. Either you go to another dealership if you want ANY chance of getting the TSB done, and give up the vendetta you have against that stupid dealership because you bought your truck there, or continue to rant about them, but have NO chance of getting your springs replaced. I don't think you are going to change their minds. The issue isn't that the TSB won't be done on your truck, it's that it won't be done by that jerkwad dealer.

buy a 70 dollar add a leaf and do it yourself. a TSB is not worth getting rid of your tacoma.

    At least buy a Ford............not a chevy....

Both dealerships won't WANT a new Toyota on their used car lots to compete with their new trucks. especially one that will cost more making their trucks look pretty weak.

Ford is giving a lot of money on their rangers though. You may get a Key to key deal. But I have to think anyone who is hell bent on getting a new Tacoma will want to save more than $2k on a slightly used one with bad springs....

I agree that 30K should get you the best service it can...but does that mean it's worth the frustration to try to get good service where you aren't?? My guess is you can piss and moan all the way to the owner of the dealership and Toyota Corporate and you are just going to piss people off and get shitty attitude. Might get the work done-but do you really wanna call someone out to their boss and then have them work on your car?? Even more so if they are a moron like the tech in this story??
At some point- You have to "cut your losses" (for lack of better wording) and move on to get what you want.

    Nice....Very nice.

Interesting....I'vre read through all 9 pages and concluded the following:

    - The OP has a $30K truck and wants to get rid it of it over a $400 pair of leaf springs because the dealer won't give him the rear leaf TSB.

    - OP won't go to another dealer because this one is 10 minutes away and he doesn't want to drive out of his way and because of principle

    - OP didn't buy full size truck because he didn't want to pay $50K to get the option he wants.

*(Many threads on TW of how Tacoma sucks because it doesn't offer frivilous things like heated mirrors, leather seats, power seats)

    - OP has a $30K Harley.

    - Conclusion: OP has money to throw away if he's willing to take a $6K bath on a 2011 Tacoma over $400 leaf springs. Also he should of bought the $50K full size truck to haul his $30K Harley........

The TSB does not increase the load capacity of these trucks, it was created due to some trucks not being able to handle the stated payload. Why some trucks weren't able to handle the load and others were, they don't know. The payload is the exact same on a Tacoma with a TSB and a Tacome without a TSB.

Good luck with your Chevy, my bf has been a Chevy service tech for over 10 yrs. His Chevy has had far more repairs and problems than my Tacoma (none) and his isn't even a daily driver. He says if he didn't work for Chevy then he wouldn't own one, they have too many problems and are expensive to fix.

Go to Rohrich on West Liberty, You said you lived in Whitehall, so do I. Thats where I bought my truck, and I haven't tried for the TSB, have not really had that "Harsh ride" yet, but I have never had a problem with them. They replaced my blower no problem. They seem like decent guys there, they always throw in a bunch of free washers for the oil plug when I get oil filters there. Its only 15 mins away.

You bought a Tacoma. So the question should be: is a Tacoma a truck?

    What defines a truck?

The cab isn't optioned to your satisfaction so you're fixing it up. It can haul up to it's GVWR so if doesn't do it to your satisfaction fix it up.

If you want the TSB then do what most everybody else has been able to do and convince the dealer your truck needs it. If your too proud to kiss a little ass and get it for free put on an AAL for $100 or so. Then put on airbags cause even with the TSB (AAL) a Tacoma is as much of a truck as Toyota ever thought it should be.

If you don't like that, just sell it and buy that $50K Chevy. But whatever, stop moaning about it and just DO something!

You sound like the kinda guy who'd buy a GTI and piss and moan when it didn't perform like a Porsche at Nurbergring.

Thing is any 1/2 ton truck will haul only as much at the tacoma, 100-200 +/- lb more in payload ,towing will be 8000lb or so. Its a 4000lb truck is no reason to assume it'll haul what you want, you are putting promises in its mouth. A silverado will haul as much cargo, possibly less , possibly a bit more all at 5500 lb. The trucks weight correlates more to its size , less its haulability.......case in point my old reg cab dakota.... 2000lb cargo pkg , the 3/4 ton silverado i had was cargo around 2200lb w/o fuel or driver. Point is you need to RESEARCH! Decide your actual tow needs, if its 4000lb , get 6000lb or so , need 1500lb actual cargo , no choice get a 3/4 ton or larger. Dont take it too hard , or personal , but honestly , uneducated shoppers infest our nation with a lack of knowledge and foolhardy assumptions(intentional misspell). We have so easy access to the data too, just no need for it.

    http://www.toyota.com/tacoma/specs.html
    http://www.chevrolet.com/silverado-1500/features-specs/
a chevys & tacoma spec sheet , pan down to the 1695lb cargo(before fuel and driver) Tacoma is 1295lb . so 400lb more. Simple quick resaerch , so easy , even a 42yo can do it.
