Hi all ya Tacoma and dog lovers. I was wondering how dog friendly is your Taco. Meaning is truck to high for your faithful friend to get into. How do you load your dog.
Just wondering because I got mine and my dog is very hesitant about jumping up into it and I cannot pick her up. So the only alternative is not taking her with me for rides which she loves or get a ramp and hope she would go up it into the back seat.
    Any input would be appreciated
    Thanks
    Gilles

    She’s about 60 lbs..
If your dog is hesitant get a ramp and teach her to use it, I have a feeling once my pup gets a little older I’ll be getting a ramp too. Had to add the Doggo pic :D

My 25 lb dog jumps up into it with no help. She is an unusually high jumper though.

My dog is 17 years old. Spry and still runs, but alas I must lift him in. I have this harness thing, comfortable for him and has a luggage handle for lifting.

I have to lift and place my 10 year old Westie into the truck. There was a time he could jump pretty high but he is getting up there in age. On the other hand, my son's Springer Spaniel (who we keep from time to time) could probably jump over the truck! They don't call them Springers for nothing!

I have to lift my 90lb boxer because he isn’t a jumper and he has a bum knee. My other dog can climb in himself but he wants to be lifted

My girlfriend’s 60ish lb Weimaraner/lab mix just recently gave up on jumping into my double cab unassisted. He’s nearing 12 years now, and his back and hips have begun to give him problems. He gave up on hopping into her lifted jk 2 door almost a year ago, and gave up on mine shortly after I lifted it. I do keep the back seat bottoms folded forward so that he doesn’t have to get all the way up on the seat. There’s a dog bed sprawled where the seat normally goes, and the folded-forward seat bottoms make a nice nest for him so that he can’t slide onto the floor behind the front seats. He pops his front paws up on the door sill and I grab him under the abdomen and lift his back half in. He still loves riding in the truck, but greatly prefers stepping into my e30 coupe these days.

Our 5yr boxer husky can hop over the couch so no issues now.
I was thinking just a box to add a step?
Then I looked and Amazon has a lot of them. (Dog ramps)
I’d probably do one of the folding ones when the time comes.

I have a 14lb very short legged doxi mix who is probably the only dog on the planet who hates car rides. Been that way since day 1 that we rescued her from the shelter. She's not going in voluntarily, so she gets picked up. If she actually liked it I'd get steps. She uses them in the house.

My 14 month GSP can jump up no problem but he would rather me lift his back end up.

I have a 8x46 in piece of wood about 1/2 in thick that was left over from a project I had, I then added some skater tape for grip and it holds my pyr with no problem. I have the predator steps and it fits in place perfectly

Mine jump in and out. Once they start getting decrepit I guess I'll lift them.

Am I the only POS on here that puts them in the bed? I can't deal with Husky hair in every interior crevice. The non slip liner gives them traction and they seem to love it back there...

My mini-schnauzer is short. I lift him into the truck. He could easily make the jump, but I think he is unsure about the situation.

I should try opening the Access cab rear door. He won't be looking at the trying to overcome the stuff near the driver's seat, (pedals, steering wheel, seat). The rear is a more open area than the driver's seat.

I have a 50lb ish catahoula. She can jump as high as me with a running start, not quite as high without the lead up but she’s got it.

long term she might need a ramp.

    You monster!!!

I had a husky growing up. In the winters it builds up. In the spring you get what I call the hair tornado. First warm day in March, April maybe. You roll the windows down to enjoy the breeze. Nope. A tornado of husky hair forms in the cab and blinds you/suffocates you.

happened every year. Even the year I remembered that it happens and cleaned - still don’t get it all.

my girl loves the mud. There has been a time or two she gets tied up in the bed for the short trek home. I wouldn’t take her on the highway but 10 minutes home for a hose down in the yard, no big deal. I wanted to get one of the G2 kennels back there but she’s good in the cab without it and if I left it in the bed there’s a 75% chance it would just get stolen one day.

My dog did will even in a lifted tacoma until she got her hind leg amputated. A ramp works fine.

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
Been using this for a few years. Our 85 pound lab has no problems with it. More compact to store than the ramp ideas
