Are there laws governing a dashboard plastic trim being mandator?

    I know it varies state to state, etc.

    But, if I just removed the big plastic chunks that cover the dash and left the rest in place, would I be breaking any laws?

    If you're removing the "big plastic chunks" you're probably talking about the passenger airbag as well? In which case you wouldn't be able to pass inspection if your state has one. Not to mention in a crash you would be hitting body parts off of solid metal tubing. Not good for you or anyone/anything else in your truck.

    no, everything else stays in place. just the plastic dash comes off.

    I guess you'll have to be more specific as to what you're calling the "dash" since I'm thinking of everything from the top pad, down to the plastic shrouding above your knees.
