I'm pretty lost after my last attempt at figuring mine out. I used this video that explains things with a Tundra drivetrain on a bench.

I'm thinking my current 3 degree shims are way too much. With no shell and an empty bed the vibes are almost non-existent. Toss in 200lbs of tools and a heavier than average shell and the vibes are terrible at 55mph+. My measurements seemed off with my digital angle finder. Might grab the Klein Tools one instead of my cheapo eBay chinese one. Worst case I guess I can try a 2.5 or 2 degree shim.

These measurements seem off. And I swear every time I measured the front angles the finder was giving me a different value.

    Pinion Flange 10.8
    Rear driveshaft 10.4
    Front section of driveshaft 5.8
    Transfer case flange 4.2

I just took mine for a drive. No change in vibrations since of was only off by 2.0 degrees. I could tell by looking at the rear diff pinion was pointing too far downward. Just measuring the angle from the u-joint flange at the back of the transmission I'm starting with 2.4 degrees at the Transfer Case angle and adjusted the rear diff flange to the same angle. It may be simpler for me because I only have a single piece driveshaft and adjustable upper control arms.

Here's a thread on Transfer case and Pinion angles.

    Rock? What rock?

It was definitely bent. I'd like to get some more miles in but on a quick lap up the neighborhood hill I didn't get it to skip any more

They only warn you about your balls dropping for the first time...the second one comes up by surprise.

I don't think any vehicle comes with that glorious feature anymore

I just sit on a towel and occasionally stuff a couple ice cubes down my pants

Oh yea.. And an ass warmer too. Stay with a 98-02 models -- preferably 2000 with 4-pinion front diff and ATRAC. The 03+ evap design is seeing boiling fuel at higher altitudes.

I think I'm going to start cutting back on some of the off-road group memberships. I've tried a few now. Most only have events that include a particular type of brand of SUV. They'll all take your money and that's about it. The best ones that have the most fun for everybody are free.
