Picked up my truck today after receiving a new frame. Problem is it is horrible to drive. The steering wheel shimmys horribly from time to time from 45 mph and up. The tech stated that he noticed a vibration and it needed new tires but it certainly didn't drive like that before hand or I would have already changed the tires out. I do know that my driver's side lower ball joint was on its way out when I took it to them. Is it possible that the tires wore to a worn out ball joint? There isn't any significant cupping or anything abnormal on the tires although they are worn down to 4/32 or did I get a shitty alignment? Any thoughts guys?

Maybe the steering rack isn't properly torqued?

I will look at it tomorrow. I did look underneath and it looked like they marked all the bolts they torqued so I will see if they are marked. Thank you. I'm still on the fence if I should give the dealership a call tomorrow and see what they say.

Blaming your tires is the oldest trick in the book

    You are exactly right
Common sense says given both of those things (alignment and balance) are literally free if you do it yourself and cost nothing but a bit of your time,
it's probably a good place to start before moving onto replacing parts that cost money
    Easy to hard
    you check/replace a $1 fuse before going to a $1,000 computer

and if it's marked and loose
    or not marked at all
