Airbag light stays on after removing side door to paint it

My airbag light says on and I can’t get it to go out. It happened after I removed the side door to paint it. The deal said I messed up the wiring and the harness has to be changed in the extra cab door. Here is what I have done so far:
    • I read an article that if the light doesn’t go out, first disconnect the airbag connector under the passenger seat and leave disconnected for 3min after turning the key on and the system should reset. I tried this and it didn’t. Next the article mentioned to check the fuses for the air bag. I checked every fuse under the dashboard and thy wer all good.
    • I disconnected the battery and touched the positive to negative wires together to maker sure the system was discharged and then reconnected the battery to see if that would reset the airbag light.
    • I then pulled the side panel off to check the connections in the door. The speaker worked, the side door sensor worked, the driver door sensor work. The last sensor was on the seat belt. When I disconnected the senor I got a check the charging system error. This lead me to believe the sensor is at least connected.
The big question is, what sensor in the side door of the extra cab will affect the the air bag sensor? I want to make sure replacing the wire cable is going to fix the issue.

SRS (airbag) system errors get saved into the airbag computer memory and you need a SRS capable scan tool to reset it. Even if you solve the problem that was causing it, it is still saved in memory and you must clear it with a scan tool to make it go away. So try having the code cleared first before throwing parts at the truck

    Hope it helps! :)

    Reserected from the dead.
    Mostly correct.

The SRS ECU only needs reset if there was a bag deployment. If you have a lit SRS light and no bag deployment, you have a cxonnection issue.

A SRS scan tool can tell you which squib is showing the fault. This will help you find the bad connection.

No tool is needed to reset the SRS ECU once the bad connection is found. The SRS will reset itself the next system check (the next time you start the truck).

The SRS system check is nothing more than a continuity check. The SRS ECU knows what resistence each squib/connection is. If the resistance is higher or infinite (unplugged connector), you get a dash light.

Start following down those bright yellow conductors and look for sketchy connections.

You do have a side curtain air bag, any chance that loop was tampered with?

Mine had popped a SRS code that needed to be cleared from memory, even if it never had the bags deployed. Never knew what caused it, but I suspect a mechanic unplugged the battery while the keys were in the ignition (ON or ACC position), angering the SRS system... Code never came back since
