I bought my AXS kit on sale for cheaper than regular X01 kit. It's amazing, but at most I'd say it's worth a $200 premium over regular stuff.

Also, I don't think Salsa uses DW, most DW link bikes have a solid rear triangle.

good deal, I think I'm already set there. I have the same brakes on both bikes so I do believe the stumpy has that spacer on the caliper if I want to change it over. Just gotta get the dropout...

hm...wonder if the stumpy could do the 27.5+ tires....

I replicated it last week…was solo as usual so only the squirrels and birds witnessed the splendor.

Anyone use the Giro Fixture MIPS helmet? Took a pretty good head hit this weekend and am a bit messed up, but looking for a MIPS helmet going forward - the Giro seems to be the most wallet friendly with good reviews, but have no problem at this point opening up the wallet for a more expensive one if it protects better.

If I remember correctly the only downside to the helmet is that it is a one size fits all. So if you are at either end of the dome size spectrum you may look weird and the helmet may not work as well.

Split Pivot, but yes, it's a super underrated bike that's incredibly fun. The Blackthorn is actually their mid-travel bike with 140mm, the Cassidy is the big (165mm) Enduro gun. I love split pivot bikes, and a big fan of the Devinci bikes. It's weird that they're not as popular out in the US.

There're a few buyer friendly MIPS helmets out there now. But, I'd steer you toward looking at a more comprehensive look at helmet construction. MIPS is just one component that helps mitigate rotational impact, but you're still needing a helmet that dissipates direct impact at both high and low speeds.
Virginia Tech is considered the place to start, and they have handy filters at the top of the page (including "under 100") that can help you find what your'e looking for.
Remember that fit is the number one thing you're after. A helmet that doesn't fit correctly won't protect your noggin no matter what tech it has.
Get the best helmet you can afford. If you don't crash, it'll last 5 years. If you do, it's worth ever penny to save yourself long term, possibly permanent, brain damage.

Anyone have experience with both the Mac Ride and the Kids Ride Shotgun seat?

Just off the top of my head I think there are a few users of each model here
    @SenatorBlutarsky @TacoDozer22

I’m planning to get one or the other very soon and am suffering a little paralysis by analysis.

Do my thoughts on mid-stroke support make sense? I was trying to nail down the sensation but only rode it 10 miles or so. I've also ridden the Cassidy and was not impressed. Which is unexplainable considering they're the same front triangle with a different linkage. (I think)

I've the shotgun seat and it's awesome both my 2 and 4 old love it.. It takes a bit to get adjusted to the bike the first time you install it. After that is a quick 2 min or less process on and off the bike.

I ended up picking up the handlebar mount for an extra 35 bucks or whatever it is.... and have never installed it. They just hang on to the bars.

Yep and you may like it. Rollover of a 27x2.8+ is not much difference from a 29x2.4. BB may be lower a couple mm but you should try it...

The mac ride has been amazing! It goes on and off super easy and the only thing that stays on the bike that it requires is a special headset spacer (included). I can ride with my son on trails and pump tracks no problem. It's super stable and doesn't make the bike too much harder to ride with their weight centered. It's really well made and doesn't have any play/slop. It doesn't touch the frame at all and is super adjustable which is why I like it.

It does have a couple quirks though:
    1) Not unique to the MacRide and as @dwphoto stated, you kinda have to mess around with the placement a little. On the MacRide the seat can slide back/forward, the feet holsters can angle and go up/down. When my son got bigger (3 yr old now), he sits farther back and I have to ride bow legged or with my feet on the outside of the pedals. This will depend on many factors.

    2) Unique to MacRide and some dropper posts: You need at least 2-3 inches of the dropper (non-dropping part) exposed for the rear clamp. Also, I have a 31.6mm diameter dropper and the MacRide BARELY fits. I don't think it would work with the 34.9 unless they have changed it.

    3) You also need space between your headset bearing cover and bottom of the stem, at least 15mm I think.

Yall crazy. I don't trust my son to hang on to the bars for his life's sake. lol Your kid must have the biking gene.

I went with the Thule Yepp Nexxt Mini since he was only one year old.
