the US leads the entire world in reducing emissions, yet we get the most flak for emissions because a certain party loves to make it a talking point. even the UN recognizes this fact.

of course we emit more per capita, but what they fail to mention is the size of the population. in some cases we have 700 million less citizens so the per capita % doesnt really tell the truth

dont worry we will be joining that paris accord though.

Good, least amount of emissions means we are closer to a great goal. We should start with no ICE sales in 2025 and knock this baby out! Good news.

Yeah, there are countries that are off-setting these gains. China, India are just 2. There are many more.......

Of course that's a shame. But America and other countries will move forward without them until they come around, hopefully.

You know.....if there are 100 people in a room and none take a bath for a week, then 1 people takes a bath.......the room still stinks.

We are on the same world. The same room........it still stinks.

Truthfully, I lived in China for 6+ years. There are days when the air has taste....not a good taste. Visibility is a brown haze for about 1/2 mile, beyond that.....not visible. We should be thankful for our air quality and keep making real improvements.

I have spent some time in China as well. The air taste like an electrical fire smells to me, if that makes sense. The haze is so bad there that my kid looked up and said "Moon" when he was about 3. In fact it was the Sun as it was about noon. That's how bad the haze is there, you can literally taste it. Beijing and Xian were otherworldly disgusting.

    Stinks indeed.

I'm all for leading by example and from the front.

Sorry, I'm not convinced EV is the savior to match the hype. Many aspects are being hidden.

I do believe EV is a bridge to a more viable system.

In my mind, I feel bio-diesel, LNG or other sources hold more promise.

The truth, a pound of batteries will not hold near the energy as a pound of fuel. Typically, electricity is generated by burning coal or nat gas. Yes, some is generated by hydro, wind or solar. So, we mine or drill to burn a fuel to make an environmentally friendly "fuel" for a car........seems dumb....

Not even considering the mining or manufacturing process to create a Li-ion battery. Now, in a few years.....you will need to replace the EV's battery pack, saddle up for that cost. Its ironic, people bitch about the cost to replace their power tool battery........

People are slurping the marketing kool-aid. Me, I remain skeptical, very skeptical.

You're trading moving parts for electronic parts to control every aspect of the vehicle. We all are aware of the reliability of vehicle electronics. Vibration and temperature extremes are toxic to electronics.

What happens when one wheel motor becomes un-synchronized with the other wheel motors???? Could lead to some interest handling quirks.

This old guy is keeping a gas pickup as long as they are available, Been in the auto industry for over 40 years not sold on these electric/battery vehicles.

Why is this Thread in the 3rd Gen section, it's about as relevant to 3rd Gen Tacoma's as a Thread on adding a chrome dashboard to a Kia Rio or a fun with Balloon Animals?

My grandpa was in the pacific in WWII and Korea. He hated Japan, hard-core. That SOB was driving Toyotas by the early 1990s.

    You'll figure it out.

Toyota is planning on building an electric truck. Toyota makes Tacoma’s. Tacoma’s are trucks…

Good thing ICE vehicles have kept electronics from becoming integral to their operation

And that pertains to 3rd Gen Tacoma's? Seems to me it would make much more sense in the General Automotive Section instead of here.

Go I don't know where you're going with this, I drive a Tacoma now just not a fan of electric/battery. There will be plenty of pickups available running fuel, not everyone is going to run out and purchase an electric pickup 2x the price they are now.

There are modes under 40k before tax breaks. It's cheaper now to buy a F150 lightning EV than a new Tacoma.
