Tacomas are in higher demand. Also a 1st model run typically has many problems........

Anyone remember the Mazda RX-7 with the Wankle engine. It began blowing lip seals very early......leading to the death of that model.

That wasn’t the only car Mazda made with a rotary.

True, that was just one model with the Wankel problems.

OK....how about the mid-70's Chevy Vega with the all aluminum engine......after a couple thousand miles the car became a mosquito fogging machine.

After 10 pages of this, I have discovered a few distinct tacomaworld cliques…

    change scares me

we’re all going to die anyways so I’m going to keep using tire fires as nightlights.

EV’s are a step in the right direction, but not the holy grail

let’s see what improvements are made and what the tech really looks like in ten years.

All hail elon, our lord and savior.

please choose your group wisely and we will all meet behind Denny’s and have a dance off to see who correctly predicted the future.

Sorry not in the market for a soccer mom’s pick up. It’s would have to be a F250 or higher.

    I completely disagree.
I am a small business owner that makes occasional deliveries that are one full pallet. My Tacoma is perfect for that job and has been a fantastic vehicle for that job. Anything bigger than that yes, I need a bigger vehicle but those times are few and far between, in which case I hire a local service. My SBDC is awesome at it's job.

CO2 released by transportation sector is roughly 6.7 gigatons. US is responsible for 1.76 gigatons of it (or ~26%). That amount is more than the combined transportation emissions of next 4 countries on the list (China, India, Russia and Japan). So yeah, US is the major source of transportation emission. In the US, road emissions also account for a larger share of the transportation emissions, so if we compare just road emissions, the US share would be even larger.

I don't see a functional electric off-road vehicle anytime soon in the future. They are just too dang heavy. Plus once discharged where do you charge them up? Take a lot of solar panels.Besides it takes a lot of oil and gas to make solar energy. Might as will just fill up the tank and go!

Well you charge up before you go. Just like you gas up before you go.

Yeah but where I go I'm gonna burn that charge up in the desert and won't get home. Plus because of the weight I would get stuck in every single soft sand track. I guess a plus would be honing recovery skills. For now make electric cars great again!

First thing after I get a tesla would be driving my soccermom-mobile to the drag track and embarrass some gas loving hellcat drivers.

Do multiple runs, figures that Tesla gave up on their runs at the ring and one plaid has already burnt to the ground. Tesla is rubbish and it's fanbase is the most toxic in the automotive world

Rivian weighs 5900lbs, it is not like it is the double the weight of a similarly sized truck. Not bad with a motor for each wheel and 750hps. And equally speced gas truck would be much heavier.

Lol the jokes on you, tesla can do more runs before the hellcat runs out of gas.

It was calculated that the Model S uses about 1.1 kWh of power for one quarter-mile dash, which it completes in 12.4 seconds at 111.3 mph (178 km/h). However, it is worth noting that if the brake energy recoup system is set to its maximum setting, the deceleration motion alone will be enough to put back 0.6 kWh into the battery. This means that if you have patience to coast after each run, the overall cost is just 0.5 kWh. In addition, a total of around 170 such runs could be done on one charge.
