Thats one way to look at it, but still doesn't feel great knowing I missed out on 4 years of high school ball and maybe even more. The quitting and not having a choice about it is the bad part realistically.

No supply. Bikes were basically out of stock for an entire year as the covid crowd all simultaneously discovered their new favorite recreational hobby.

 

Take that and bring it up to car size purchase level. That's what I'm dealing with right now. The usual trick of here's cash now knock the price down to dealer cost and get rid of the delivery fee isn't working. I'm gonna end up paying MSRP plus delivery and I'm going to be pissed.

Don't tip your hand to cash until EVERYTHING is settled...they have zero interest in cash. That want you to finance through them and then they can do the old "Well, we'll add muffler bearing lube for an extra $3 a month...and the protection plan is just another $11....Oh and..."

Cash guy is nothing but a sale and only interesting at the end of the month if their looking to hit a bonus quota kick back from the automakers...
So if sales are strong they want the dip shit with a fico of 680 they can roll into a 6 year finance plan...

Here's the thing. Both vehicles in the running have .9% and 0% 60 month financing. I ran the figures on that .9% and it's $434 interest over the course of the loan. There's zero incentive for the dealer to try and lock me into that. Toyota financing will spend more in billing me then they will make in interest. The issue is there are so many people in the market for Toyo's right now it's also giving the dealer no incentive to work with me. They know damn well they'll sell it at sticker in a week or two.

 

My other favorite is people selling walmart bikes for MORE than the current price at walmart...I guess they stole a lemon...

 

Your best bet is last day of the month, in stock vehicle off the lot...that's the only bargaining you could do with cash...

Problem with that is my local dealer is small. They're not winning any volume awards. Ever. So closing one extra vehicle doesn't mean shit to them. If I went down to LONGO Toyota I'm sure it would be a different story. They've won TOYO's volume dealer award 4 years in row. There also only 4.5 hours from here so that might actually happen.
