Anyone have some cool stock Truck friendly dispersed camping spots up in Greer? Looking at going to sunrise bike park for a few days. Want to go camp somewhere preferably not at a campsite. That area is still open for dispersed camping right?

Have you tried running a wire directly from your battery to your starter ? To see if it cranks , in neutral of course..

You can also essentially do the same thing by pulling the starter relay module out and run a jumper wire to bypass the relay switch . Just to rule out your starter as the culprit.

I tried that and I get nothing, new oem starter, new fuses/relays. Battery test good and took a full charge but at this point I’ll be going Costco to get a new battery to rule out the 2/3 year old duralast battery.

hopefully its the battery , if you bypass the relay like in the 2nd video the starter should be getting juice no matter what and crank . My 12 taco doesn’t have it but some newer cars have a “ secret” fuse block built off of the positive battery cable .my 2015 mazda had one hidden under a plastic cover ....

Anyone have any recommendations for an awning. I have a bed rack I’d be attaching it to. Looking to see experiences from an AZ perspective.

Stuff that costs more than my wife thinks.
This is from the AZ Tacomas page on facebook, but not a bad way to get a trial run on an awning to see how you like it.

Thanks. I don’t think my rig is overlandy enough for a marketing photo. But that awning looks good.

Now that Ive camped with this awning a few times I can truly speak about how good it is. Its the Overland Vehicle Systems "Nomadic 270" awning, driver side. It was about $1000 which is the least expensive 270 I could find that is beefy enough to not require vertical support poles. So far it has handled ~20 mph winds with no issues at all. It deploys in 30 seconds and closes up in 90. Install was super simple but might be tough alone because it does weigh like 75lbs.

What I like the most about it is the size. When you open it, there are supports that swing towards the rear of the vehicle on a rear mounted hinge and then ones that swing towards the front of the vehicle on a front mounted hinge. This allows much greater coverage than a single hinge design such as the one posted above. All of the ones Ive seen, including the uber expensive/fancy Kinsmen Hardware awning, use a single pivot and dont have nearly as much coverage. I can keep my drivers door completely open and the awning covers it, out past the side view mirror and over the front fender. There is even an extra wing that slides into a slot that gives even more coverage over the windshield, I removed mine though.

I couldnt find an overhead shot of the Kinsmen awning but essentially the rectangular section that comes off the side of the truck just isnt there like it is on the OVS.

Awesome. thanks for the info! Thats pretty much what we're looking for too. I drew up a few configurations of our dual rear swingout, what side we wanted our stove to live on, vs general table side, what side we wanted to most coverage on, etc. and came up with what and where we wanted everything, and have been looking for an awning that will cover what we want now. That will work nicely. "Kitchen" side will be under the more covered section and main entry into the camper and general purpose side will be under that short side.

@Atl-atl love the set up - goals man. Gonna ride the warranty for a little while, but I'm gonna get the full rig going soon.

As for the post, don't know the guy personally, just figured I'd share since I saw it recently.

Looks like 4/5 Forests are re-opening, by the way. Not sure if anyone has specifics yet that I haven't read between work meetings.
