Use metric, it will seem longer. Do not forget about the circumference, sharpies are disqualified before the measurements.

    Gotta start somewhere.

The point isn't necessarily today, today is mediocre. But the point is if we don't start today, then long term we're still screwed. :notsure: I'd rather have the progress today than wait for a "we're screwed NOW" situation.

Man, don’t make me wax poetic about my Commodore 64. One of my first loves.

Can’t believe my parents got rid of it. They also put my plastic Kermit tricycle to rest at the dump. Sighhhhh.

Or take individual responsibility, and not wait for corporations and the government.
We cannot change others, we can change ourselves. How many of the EV proponents took advantage of the Arbor Day discounted trees and planted some?
I am a very far cry from a treehugger, more like a Southern redneck. But I eat and drink off my land. I planted 3 trees this year, 10 bushes and will plant another 5 or 6 trees and 12-15 bushes in the fall in my orchard. At the last count (4 or 5 years ago), I was up 300 plants on my property.
Charity and environmentalism are easy when they use other people's money, not your own. Stop telling others what to do, live and let live, change your own and your family's life.

Well that's the thing, they've been saying for 20+ years that "if we dont start today, we will be screwed in 20 years"

its always going to be our fault. they will keep pushing this "green" energy to fight "climate change" or "global warming" or whatever the talking point is now, until they can convince us we need to start depopulating the earth to offset humanities impact.

I'm all for new technologies, but the increase in pressure to rapidly transition into "green" energy doesnt sit right with me. its just not organic.

Can't make EV without gas and oil. In fact the pollutants from making solar panels and battery disposal and all that is actually more detrimental than gas and oil. But whocares right? Mad mad world.

Right now making these green items does pollute but that won’t be the case long term. This is all a booming emerging industry in the past 10 years. It all can’t be perfect out of the gate.

i dont think it needs pressure, let the technology grow organically just like when computers were introduced. it was a race to see who could out perform the next, not some push to make sure every home owner had a computer.

At that time, every home owner didn’t have a coal powered calculator that they we’re trying to get everyone to replace with an electrically powered computer.

You’re imagining that personal computers came about because of the famed “dudes in the garage pushing the boundaries” story. There is some truth to it, but people that study technoculture will note that this is a form of simplistic technological determinism—technology emerges and society adapts to it. As opposed to the other models where companies and governments begin to increasingly make choices that favor certain tech and not other tech. The organic “creative breach” model sounds and feels good, but it’s an insular way to understand very complex social, cultural, economic, and technological intersections.

California has had rolling blackouts for many years. Were is the push for this issue? The last few weeks listening to radio that folks were asked not to charge vehicles to help the cause. It’s going to be a real shit show when the government gets more involved. All for progress, peace and harmony.. it’s worked out so well has it not!

What's your definition of "long term"?
I suggest you look into recycling simple things like paper and plastics. It has been around for a while. And how much is actually recycled vs taken to landfills. When it is recycled, the processes create pollutants, and paper/plastic are not inherently toxic, like lead, arsenic and heavy metals left over from the EV production.

Well EV mfg. are doing what they can to produce zero emission production lines. It just isn’t a flick the switch.solution. It’s progressive. Tesla and Rivian want as close to zero production emission as soon as they can. They know that ev production currently pollutes. When more and more tech emerges to reduce those mfg. pollutants they said they will use it. Right now the tech of non polluting ev production isn’t YET happening. When will it happen. Sooner than later I hope.

Until the whole world is on board with zero emissions nothing will ever change. Just those with the most money just have to pay more.

well some Nordic countries are way ahead of the USA with EV adoption. But they have smaller populations. Saying nothing will ever change unless everyone is on board is partially true. But there are always slackers.
