We took the right at the fork when I ran Hurricane Creek with @Gen2Tacoma and @FirstGenTundra at the beginning of the year. As a result, we didn't end up at Max Patch. I want to check it out. I have no opposition to these restrictions though, as that does not prevent us from running the trail again and ending up at Max Patch. We'll just limit it to 10 vehicles, but I bet only 2-4 actually show up :D

While I would never camp out on Max Patch myself due to the exposure, I know there are many who look for that sort of place. What’s alarming to me is that the damage has been so bad that it’s caught the NFS’s attention and these are the actions they have taken. I recently ran HC and it’s gotten worse year after year. I can only imagine that will be where the NFS sets their sights next.

It's been rumored for years. That's why I wanted to run it before it got shut down.

I wanted to do Richland Road for years and it was closed down by the time I got there.

Different states, but I bet Charlie's Creek gets closed before Hurricane Creek.

Charlie’s creek went from being able to do it in a stock Subaru to rutted to hell. Too many jeep clubs found out about it.

was our favorite camping area and now it’s a mess and not peaceful since everyone goes out there and tears it up all night. Such a shame.

Hurricane isn't bad currently. I ran it about a month ago in 2wd with no issues. There are a couple rough spots, but those spots are no worse than they were the last time I was there, over a year ago. I know terrain conditions ebb and flow for sure though

They just graded all of Charlies. I've yet to see it personally, but from the videos it looks like a Prius could do it with ease.

    Agreed.

How do I dislike a post?

In all seriousness, I wouldn't be opposed to it since people have a tendency to ruin things. On the other hand, there aren't many trails in GA that you can legitimately get offroad. I would rather people be respectful and not destroy it so that it could stay open.

When we ran it in December/January, I didn't have skids and was fine. A couple of more technical spots and a few moments of "oh, sh" thoughts, but pretty reasonable overall.

....just make sure you don't lose the key to your trailer ball so that you don't drag every time you need clearance in the back. ( :boink: You know who you are....)

Oooooh i am too familiar with the trailer ball....

Long story short, got stuck in my old truck years ago. Had a winch on a receiver mount; in the bed of the truck. Got super duper stuck, keys for hitch were at home. Had to call best friend at 2AM to pick me up to get keys and come back to pull truck out.

To reiterate @CowboyTaco dont lose/forget your trailer hitch key

There is a route out at sarahs creek that looked like a challenge. I drove up it for a bit back when I had a stock truck and my skid plate look a pretty good bump on a rock and scraped the under side of my front bumper. So before I tore something up and possibly ended up stranded I gave up and left. That's what motivated me to build a truck. I finally got a lift, armor, and a winch. Then went back and it was blocked. Trees cut down a sign and everything . It was a real bummer. I wish people didn't have to ruin everything.

Sorry but I have zero faith left in people to do the right thing anymore.

If folks wanna wheel, they should go to a dedicated offroad park.

For me it's not "wheeling" it's about going on a adventure. I try to never spin tires, did ruts etc. Of course it does happen though. But Finding new places to explore. Play Indiana Jones. An off road park is like a skate park. I dont go to either.

100% agree with this. I want to get out and see nature. Not just beat on my truck for the thrill of it.

You’re not alone, nor did I say anyone here was wrong. The good just are outweighed by the bad.

I have actually done that out at Sarah's creek. It was really fun. We camped and cooked after cleaning up trash all day.

We went to Max Patch twice last year and both times the summit was literally covered in trash and discarded camping gear from jerks that were probably too hungover the next morning and just decided to leave everything. I have no problem with them ending camping. Humans are a cancer for our planet.

    This guy gets it.

Don’t worry bud, I’ll take all the hate for being the first one to speak in support of closures.

I don't like it, but in this case it makes sense. Thankfully there are still plenty of places to camp in that area, most of which are a lot more private. It stinks that some people have to ruin it for everyone else.

Good Lord! Ha! BTW I just didn't bring the key with me (I didn't lose it) because I'm 58 with a failing brain. NOT really losing it but that's my excuse for now! Sh*t I'm thinking of removing my mud flaps after that trip! :D
