I worked in the automotive field for a little bit (2-3 years) and then I worked in a hospital as a truck driver and material management. Pretty much the supply chain.

Id be looking at the plants if I were you. I had a buddy that made good starting money working with supply chains at BMW.

Also,if you want to move closer to GA you could look at jobs at SRS in the CSRA. TONS of opportunities there potential for really good money and good benefits.

Lets hook up when you land on your feet here. I work in construction as a PM / Sales type of guy, we provide services to a lot of the major (and small) property management companies, I deal with the building or facility engineers a lot. The company I work for is a roofing company, but in my department we focus on facade maintenance and restoration, caulking, coating, masonry repair, concrete repair, etc. There is a very serious labor shortage currently. Hard to find people that are responsible, reliable, somewhat clean background, and can pass a drug test.

Costco has a regional office in Duluth GA that handles supply chain. Lots of new stores opening as well. We start at 15+ Hr. You need to be an employee to get into the regional office.

Second the HVAC recommendation. Friend of mine runs his own business, actually focuses on commercial, and he makes bank. That’s a pretty foolproof trade, people in the Carolinas won’t tolerate a lack of AC very long.

Well, after flooding emails with Resumes (3 months now) interviews are starting to happen but I am actually amazed that it has been so slow....

I work for Duke Energy, utility company based out of Charlotte, NC, power generation side. Started out on electrical/instrumentation maintenance. I enjoy what I do. Constantly changing, always something new to learn. I used to work on the coal generation side and have transitioned into natural gas generation. Majority of the folks in the maintenance side have associate degrees in electrical, instrument & controls, or welding/machining. A lot of folks also come out of the Navy nuclear programs.

Sure thing. When I moved here 20 years ago I was a land surveyor. Jobs were hard to find because it was the middle of winter and the real-estate market was slow. I have a cousin who owned a heating and air business at the time. He said you really should consider coming to work with me.. when the weather is bad I get busier not slower!

I was shocked at the idea after having worked my whole life outdoors and constantly battling the elements, just to be sent home when it rains snows etc.. so I gave it a shot. I hated it at first. I actually got out of the business every chance I got. As I got older (in my 30s) I realized that I was starting a family and really needed to concentrate on one career to provide stability got my wife and kids. I enrolled I'm some online courses and applied myself. Finally one day I out grew the small town company and stepped upto the big leagues. I went out as a lead mechanic for a vastly growing firm. Before I knew it through hard work and dedication I had become the best.

Now 5 years later I am top tech and paid very well for my skills. It takes a certain individual to go the places we go (under houses building s and sometimes even streets.) Work still in all kinds of weather. But it's very gratifying at the same time. I especially like the feeling of accomplished that comes with helping people. Which brings me to another reason I chose this field. Most people can not fix thier own HVAC. They can however manage to work on thier own carpentry repairs and plumbing repairs and even elctrical repairs. But when it comes to the heat pump or furnace Most people cringe at the thought of touching the unit. Basicly I fix stuff most folks can't. And that makes me in very high demand. Good luck.
