We had dogs on the farm and I loved them...

But I loved the barn cats too, even though you really shouldn't.
They were there to keep down the rodents.
All they got was bone meal and milk tank rinsings.
And butchering leftovers from time to time.
    The best hunters survived.
Many could be quite friendly and they all had distinct personalities.

The thing about cats is, they're so much easier.
No training, no problem leaving them for a few days...

Maybe there will come a time when things are more settled for you. :fingerscrossed:

That sounds about right. Dogs are so much more dependent on people. With traveling and other things going on one would be a bit of a hassle. Although the security, companionship, and having one to run with would be cool. But then there is the poop pickup, and all that to deal with. I have a weak stomach when it comes to poop and vomit, so having kids and most animals would be a big issue for me. lol

It would be hard to replace a kitten (Isis) my mom had rescued, which ended up adopting me throughout the years of me staying at my mom's off and on. The bond between us was so strong that I've had dreams of her after she passed, quite often leaving me crying. I didn't want to leave her alone down in Florida so I brought her ashes with me during my stay here in VT. Anyway, it's amazing how attached you can become with an animal. My roommate tends to a bunch of wild cats, feeds them a couple of times a day along with the grackles but they are definitely hunters and quite often half a lizard or some other thing will be laying out on the walkway. One really loves killing basilisks, which is good because they eat the anoles and geckos.
