I worked around a Cpl Sargent for a bit, I feel like the confusion is better than a joke

We had an “Anita Dick” at one of my bases - she got married to the first dorm rat she met and kept his name in the divorce.

We had Major Reche (pronounced “wreck”) at the Air Operations Center, and - he was.

The worst name I’ve seen was an aircraft maintainer named Harold Manlove. Ended up chatting with him in the smoke pit. Strong personality, didn’t take any shit - very much a “boy named Sue” mentality.

We had a Sargent Mauger (pronounced "Major") - that used to give the DI fits on parade practice!

I met an Army 1LT whose first name was General. I don’t remember his last name but he loved calling people and introducing himself as Lieutenant General what ever his name was.

Fuck me sideways. This PCS move of only 80 miles stretched me out big time.

Worst move ever. These fucks must have missed an entire truck.

Mate of ours is doing his last duty station move twelve miles to his retirement home. They’ve already lost two crates of household goods.

    Twelve miles.

This is not making me optimistic about my move...we leave town on Friday and have to drive from Homer, AK to Houston, TX. Movers took all of our stuff last week. They strapped my motorbike to the side of the container with some blankets thrown over it. Said they do it all the time. I guess we'll see what it looks like when we open it up.

Bike will likely be a loss. I hope not but I’ve seen heaps of them destroyed by the movers if not outright stolen or stripped of parts. In turn, I’ve seen some make it through unmolested as well. After two moves with Uncle Sugar is just assumed that everything that I ship with them is likely to get destroyed or lost.

Shitty. Both of mine went in their own individual crates complete with tie downs and 2x4 bracing across the handle bars.

Bet the warehouse is on the other side of tue state too.

They strapped your bike to the side of the container? The fuck?
    So far, missing the following.
    Corner section of couch
Legs and bench seat to my table
    Entertainment center
    My two bedside tables
    Headboard to my bed
    Bose TV speaker
    Dishes
    Silverware
    Glasses
    Coffee maker (carafe made it)
    Comforter
    Box of tools
    Chicago cutlery knife block
    Pyrex dishes
    Toaster
    Blender
Former units departure plaques (the ones everyone signs when you leave)
Pictures and posters including my NP puzzle and my USA map
    All my Lego sets.

Camp stove is buggered and unsuitable, crock pot didn’t survive.

    And the list is growing.

One move they packed our TV in with other stuff and the drop off movers were rolling the box down the ramp and you could hear all the broken glass shifting around inside of it.

Another move we found our kitchen trash can with the trash still in it in the kitchen box. I can’t imagine what that smelled like when it reached its prime.

    That had to be rank.

What I’m most bothered by is all the departing plaques from my previous units are missing. Those aren’t replaceable.

Yes this is the first move that I've had where they don't use crates. They just loaded up a 40-foot container in my driveway. We got rid of a LOT of stuff before PCS this time around and the bike is the only thing in there that I'm really worried about. Other stuff can break, but I can't imagine how hard it would be to get a new bike right now. I guess we'll see what happens in a month or so.

One thing I didn't trust them with is my gaming PC. That's coming in the truck with the wife and me. In the cab. With a seat belt on.

We were advised before our first move to keep all of our papers with us. Best advice we ever got from all of the horror stories we’ve heard from others. I’ve always taken it upon myself to move my own firearms and tools as I simply don’t trust others with them.
