It’s waaaay more stable than you think. Here is my son sleeping on my handlebars after our ride went a little too long. Mom was mad, especially after I showed her the photo.

Amen. As a kid, everything was a gap to clear, a ledge to ride, or two unsuspecting obstacles that can become a impromptu to transition. Riding in the streets to the sound of the cassette buzzing, on a nice sunny day was bliss.

Really? I would have guessed it to be a rough ride. I was under the impression that those were more for bombing down some single tracks with the little wild ones.

Your son looks plenty comfy for being on the bars. The Yepp seat has straps/ buckles, so I end supporting his head when he falls asleep, and It looks like I got him in a one arm choke hold.

    I'll share here too.
So recently, I went purchased a tri-fold bed cover for the Taco. I was hesistant because I use the truck's front bed rail to fork mount our bikes. Really didnt want to invest more $$ on a tailgate pad, or hitch mounted solution after already spending on the cover. Also, I really like the convenience of being able to drive the truck into the garage fully loaded, not needing to offload the bikes. So, tooks some measurements, decided to extend the Delta mounts I had, by welding on some 6" square tubing to 1" flat stock. It aint pretty but it works. Best of all... it was free!!

For sure. You probably just like the feel of the mid-travel platform better. With longer travel the Cassidy can feel a bit less poppy.
Split pivots are known for braking sensitivity and grip, and solid ramp up a the end. In mid-travel setup the shortened stroke can also provide a solid platform for pedaling and pumping. I found that these suspension platforms are very flexible when it comes to tuning. Adjusting spring rate, damping, spacers, and rebound can really change the characteristics of the bike. With the Spartan I was able to tune it to have a trail bike feel with lots of mid-travel support and snappy pedaling, a gushy mushy enduro soak-em-up sled, or anywhere in between by messing with the rear shock and fork. It can very much be that the Cassidy you rode was set up to be more of a bruiser than a pedaler.

Primarily I disliked the slack seat tube (no front climbing grip) and long chain stays

For an alternative (very expensive but awesome protection) comparison look at the POC, Kortal Race MIPS Helmet. Just switched to this as I needed a new lid.
Too many mtb related accidents over the years, lost most of smell/taste and its likely never coming back the way it was, life is missing a few layers.

Love my Kortal helmet. Biggest feature for me is that the vent holes are big enough I can reach any point on my head to scratch and itch on the move!

Also, SAR sure as hell ain't gonna miss me. This thing is BRIGHT!

Yep, we have the shotgun seat and love it but I've never tried the MacRide. I've taken my daughter on a handful of trail rides including some pretty rowdy trails for a 2 year old up to 10 miles. We've also been commuting on it, about two miles each way, with no issues. You hardly notice they are there in terms of riding dynamics, only thing is you can't really stand and pedal.

The seat is easily adapted and moved between bikes. I've used it on everything from my 160mm travel enduro bike to a steel commuter to a hybrid bike for cruising on the boardwalk. It takes maybe 15 minutes to adapt to each type of bike and I had no concerns about it damaging my full carbon enduro bike.

We started using it with our daughter around 18 months. It was a little scary to trust her on there at first, but it's not actually been a problem at all. Now that she's a bit older (~24 months) I think she would've already outgrown the mac-ride and she really enjoys having her own seat and handlebars and stuff. On fast sections she actually stands-up on her little pegs and screams out her own little "WEEE!". There has been one time that she got sleepy and wobbly on the shotgun seat and I had to walk a bit with her since she's not strapped in, but most of the time she's sooo stoked to ride bikes.

Edit: Photo of kids on bikes is necessary!

Looks funner than a barrel of monkeys!

I've been riding the trails all around Astoria and Hammond OR. First all, yeah 100000000% fun, second I had zero idea there are so many trails around where my daughter lives.
