Can it be done safely with a mild lifted 2nd Gen? Lockers a must? In the area later in July and wondering if I should go take a peek...

My wife and I did it a few years ago now. We have a double cab short bed OR with around a 2 inch lift. Are you going up the switchbacks? If so, are you good at backing up? We found some of the switchbacks so tight it was easier to backup to the next switchback, rather than attempt a 10 point turn, to turn around. I found that the roughest section was after the switchbacks. I don't recall hitting the skid plate. We didn't have any use for the locker. In fact, I don't recall if we even used 4 wheel drive other than as a precaution for the sandy area at the bottom of the switch backs. I'm sure we did use 4x4, but nothing really stands out in my mind. Have a spotter to help navigate the switchbacks since there is not a lot of room for error.

If you haven't already seen this. They do it with a trailer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAIUPl-L1ZY

I ran it last september, i'd recommend you have sliders and skids, as i hit mine a few times. More so the skids on a couple spots in the second half of the trail. Rear locker isn't necessary but it helps. The switchbacks can be pretty tight, many of them 3 point turns, but my buddy i was with made it in a Raptor without issues.
