Deposit on an allocated SR v6 double cab: 6/29.

Got an allocated one and was told I can't get anything changed at the factory, but the dealership will do any other stuff that isn't set already.

Was told 6-8 weeks, since it was spec'd up and set, but who knows at this time. in the mean time, my current truck keeps adding miles and lowering trade in value.

You will have it before you know it. Congrats! I ordered mine on 4/21/21 and it still isn’t allocated.

Correct, once built the temp VIN no longer works.

Comparing my temp vin vs real vin, the first 8 characters were the same, the 9 after that were completely different.

I believe there is a letter in the last 4-6 digits of the temp VIN. Mine changed to all numbers in those last digits once it was permanent.

In return, would you care to go track down my new truck at the JAXPORT and get em moving?

Negative— I tried that myself to no avail and the permanent VIN is drastically different than the temp, in my case at least.

See if your truck shows up in the dealer's inventory.

Woo hoo! Just got my temp VIN!

    Ordered: TRD Offroad Access Cab
    Order date: May 27
    Allocation date: July 7
    Build date: August 16

Toyota added several options that I didn't request. The extra options are all Port installed options, and the dealer said they think they can get them removed from the build. She said Toyota has so many extra supplies because they haven't been able to produce as many vehicles as expected, so they are just trying to slap everything on the new builds. She also said that the word around town is that Toyota won't ship 2022s until they get rid of more of their 2021 supplies, so 2022 Tacomas may not ship until December or January. She may have just told me that because last week I told her that I was considering just cancelling the 2021 order and changing it to a 2022 since we were getting so late in the year, and she didn't want me to change it now. But they have been very up front and honest with me about everything, so I have no reason to believe she would lie to me about that.

Anyway, I'm getting a new truck!

Found out that my build date was 7/2, dealer said end of this month, beginning of next, like 4-6 weeks until it's mine. any way, other than waiting on the dealer, to get updates?

Finally got my temp VIN too!

    Ordered: TRD Offroad Double Cab
    Order date: April 29
    Allocation date: July 3
Build date: August 18 (in San Antonio)
Delivery to Dealer: 35-40 days after built according to the dealer

When I was looking in April, I couldn't locate any dealers around me (Northern California) that had any unclaimed Tacoma's. Decided to go out of state to Idaho. The dealer at the time was discounting Tacoma's and said I would pay that discounted price whenever it arrived. Put a "non-refundable" $1000 deposit down in April. They gave me a temp VIN on May 22, but later told me it was "no longer available." Gave me the option of staying on the list or refunding the deposit. Since there were still not any Tacoma's locally and I didn't want to start over with a different dealer, decided to stick with the same dealer.

@LFC it's interesting that we both "ordered" on the same date, my build date is 8/2 (also San Antonio) but I was quoted ~2wks transit time. Ultimately the arrives are essentially the same and I'm in Maine.

Yes, that is interesting. It seems like deliveries from San Antonio would get to dealers quicker than Tacomo's built in Mexico. I've seen some stories from people on this forum getting surprised when their truck is at the dealer. Since I have a 550 mile drive, I'm hoping I get better information as the date gets closer.

walked into the dealer on june 23 looking for an army 4wd TRD sport, they had one 2wd on the lot for 51k.
i advised that im not a rockefeller and that was a little steep for me. they said they had one they could get the following week.
i told them i would be back. the next monday I came in and they said i just missed it but they have some pull and could get another if i put down a deposit...right.
i figured a hundred bucks. nope $2500. they wouldnt budge and said it was nonrefundable.
i was floored but put it on a credit card figuring if they pulled a fast one i would reverse the charge. at first they said it would take a week, then they said 7-10 days then they said for sure...two weeks.
my bs meeter is going off but i needed transportation.
then, when they had my deposit, the last thing they promised was that they would really try their hardest to get it as soon as possible (ugh).
i got home and started googling deposit laws and looking for an attorney. fast forward a few days and i sent an email asking for a VIN on this "truck" they could get. crickets. i got busy over the 4th and
kinda forgot about the truck. thinking it would be months before i saw it, i bought an 04 wrangler pretty cheap so that i would have transportation and scratch a long time itch. i really started liking it.
decided i would call and listen to their tales of woe at the end of today (7th),
knowing they would give me some story and i wouldnt see my truck or my $ till september. i figured even if one came in, since mine was a stripper they would tart it up and sell it to someone that wanted(or didnt mind) a bunch of dealer installed options.
damn if i didnt get a text from richard around 3pm. Your truck came in today. were detailing it now. can you come in this afternoon to close....bullshit was the first thing that came to mind.
i knew it was going to be a loaded truck with $12k of options and/or a market adjustment of +$5k.
"Richard, send me a picture of the sticker"
    4x4 trd sport green dcsb msrp+destination+installed options($0) =$38,705
this truck was not on the kissmygrits spreadsheet (or at least i hadnt seen it in the last few weeks)
i hopped in the car trying not to get too excited.
pulled in the almost empty lot and there it was with a customer standing by it checking it out.
richard pops out and hands me the keys. we walk around it and then go inside
i fill out some papers and then we go see the finance manager.
im bracing for the big whammy.
    "i brought the lube"...nobody laughs
finance manager starts talking about payments and i just kinda glaze over.
i told him all that confused me and just show me the sales receipt.
there it was $38705+2700 tax +699 prep + a few bucks = $42,3xx drive out
best car buying experience ive ever had. no bs, just some guys hustling to get me
the car i wanted before promised and under expected price : Marietta Toyota (GA) - Richard Ynsana 770.422.1490
ps. anyone want a blue wrangler?

I got pretty lucky with my allocation. I decided last month I was done with the Audi life and that I would be trading my car for a TRD Pro. Went to my local dealer and turns out they had a incoming truck which was allocated, but not sold yet. 2021 TRD Pro Black on Black with a MT. I originally wanted White with an MT, but a swap was not successful and rather than waiting for the 2022 model year(Not a huge fan of the embossed bed design choice) I pulled the trigger and swiped my plastic.

The next day when I went in they had the permanent VIN for me and the in their systems the truck was showing as on the boat. 06/26/2021

I went in today and was informed and shown that the truck was at the railhead and estimated delivery date is 07/12/2021 - 07/19/2021. I am hoping it gets here in time for me take delivery before the 14th because I'm heading to the other half of the state for Oral Boards and it would make the drive back unbearable to know it's waiting for me lol.

Anyone who is familiar with the status's have any insights into the "Railhead" status and from that point usually how long Toyota takes to get a truck to the Seattle area?

At the dealer before the scheduled build date, or was that 6/25?
