I picked up a couple of these for $8 each. I have never used this brand before but for that price thought I’d give them a try.

I picked up a Vortex 1xAR spitfire prism for my saint victor, but I’m having a lot of mixed feelings after trying to sight it in with 50 rounds of 300. It won’t cowitness with my BUIS and now the whole rail looks dumb and busy. I could remove the BUIS, but I’m conflicted.

You can’t cowitness prism scopes in a practical way because of the way the eye boxes are designed. I mean, you CAN if you have one with a adjustable diopter but then you won’t see things past the front sight.

If cowitnessing buis’s is some kind of requirement for you, some form of RDS/hollo is the way to go.

The entire concept of a prism scope is to eliminate the need for BUIS. The reticle is etched so it is always there, regardless of illumination. If you need BUIS, run a set of 45 degree offsets. I run 45s with my ACOG.

It’s not a requirement, I’m already at odds with poor eyesight, color blindness, and astigmatism, so I like for things to be as aligned as possible.
I’m a noob when it comes to the AR platform and I originally sought out an AR pistol because I wanted something compact that I could get tighter grouping than my XDm at 20ish yards. My primary reason for carrying either is to keep me and my pup safe while solo camping, where wildlife (gators, black bears, coyotes, wildcats) plays a bigger threat and precision is a priority for me.

Just be careful with the bear spray in the truck. I keep mine in a tupperware container when inside the truck to be safe.

That stuff is a mess if it goes off or is punctured in the cab (no surprise, its meant to be nasty). I've heard of trucks being totaled after a can went off inside because they couldn't get it out of all the crevices, upholstery and HVAC. I used to live by Yellowstone and at least once a year a visitor center would get shut down for several days of cleaning because a tourist accidentally set one off inside.

On the firearm related side picked up 533 rounds of .22 today. Pretty jealous of all you guys with pics of several boxes acquired at a time. Most places are still 100 round limit here so 1 bulk box or 2 50 rounders which is especially annoying when buying .22.

I am right there with ya on the eyesight thing. The astigmatism is why I chose the prism sight as well with an adjustable diopter. I have problems seeing red so went with the green

the spitfire 1xAR does red and green which is great for astigmatism. In well lit conditions, the red does alright for me, but as soon as there’s a shadow or anything obscuring direct light, anything “red dot” starts to star or smear.

I started with BUIS before figuring out which optic to go with (didn’t want to turd polish my $500 XDm with a $450 trijicon, so I started over with the saint victor) and was hoping they’d cooperate with the optic, but I’m not heart broken about possibly moving them over to a different gun the future and just running the spitfire on the saint victor.

I have astigmatism too. I can use red dots, but the dot is a smeary star. Still funtional to me, but it drives me nuts.

I love how Prisms always work though. No power, no problem your sight is always there. It's a pretty handy feature. I own two of them now. A Primary arms 4x and the Vortex 1x one you have. Have never had one problem with either.

I’ve got 2 of the Swampfox blades and perfectly happy so far. I enjoy the green option as I just can’t see red well in a sighting situation. Looking at the Swampfox Arrowhead 1-10 now as it’s also available in green and I want some magnification for the new toy

How to spot a Holosun 507k fake?

It's been 3 months and my second 507k has failed me. The first one I bought in march and mounted on my P365. On the second or third range outing it was raining and the optic did fantastic all day. When I got home I began to clean everything up when I noticed the 507k was flashing intermittently. I thought it was a battery issue so I bought the correct batteries for it but the problem persisted. Amazon agreed to replace the item since it was well within the 30 days.

The second one has lasted a little over 60 days and probably 600rnds. It passed a similar moist training day and only began to fail this last Monday the 5th. I was shooting and only brought out the p365 for 50rnds since I'm low on 9mm. Within the first mag the optic began to intermittently flash again. Now that's not the only issue I have with it. There appears to be a hair, oil, and multiple other bits of dust or dirt inside the glass. I don't see how thats possible as I have never opened it up but sure enough they don't wipe off from either side. Dont think I'll be able to return this one but now I'm in the market for a reliable MRDS to put on a LFA365 slide.

Cant say I ever had that problem with an RMR. Cant even possibly have that problem with the fiber optic rmr/w tritium.
