I should mention "throttle cable" in toyota speak means the cable going from the throttle body to the trans, that's the one we're concerned with. "Accelerator cable" in toyota speak is the one from your pedal to the throttle body.

Yeah about 35 had to be rescued on the 4th alone. They know how to swim, but they do it in lakes and pools so when they jump into a rip they freak out or find out they're not quite as strong of a swimmer as they thought. (Also alcohol)

Same thing as a kick-down cable?

Yeah, except on an A340 it has absolutely zero to do with kick down, it's just for controlling trans line pressure

Do you remember the diameter hoses and length you used for the transmission cooler to the feed/return lines coming from the tranny?

Or which way did you route it?

Whoops, noted, thanks. Had an ADD moment and one tracked it to, "throttle cable," and popped out to look. Once this rain is over I'll get back on it. (Likely tomorrow.)

I used 3/8 transmission hose which is a bit tight. I think 8-10 feet is what most write-ups recommend so you can run it through that hole in the core support and from the radiator.

I had to run an in-line thermostat with no internal rad trans cooler. So I just bought 25 feet for peace of mind. I also used some rubber trim to line that hole in the core support and protect the hoses.

With the recent heat wave out here people went to go swimming in the lakes and rivers to cool off. However most were not smart enough to realize the water is glacial melt so it's still sub 50 degrees. Lots of rescues and quite a few that went down and never came back up, you'd think the locals would know better since it happens every year

But every year there's always a handful of these stories

I saw a story last week about a guy that went fishing with 3 of his kids (was a family of like 9 kids though, Deep South...say no more), little girl got swept away by the current so the dad went chasing after her, then the son went in to help. All 3 drowned

Yea the bodies natural shock instinct to gasp when you hit cold water is almost impossible to overcome and if your head isn't above water you almost always guaranteed to drown.

There was a story last week of a boy that went overboard and needed rescued. The dad didn't like how long the coast guard was taking so jumped in to save his son himself. Boy got rescued but Dad drowned... kind of his own fault tho, son had life jacket and dad did not

For sure that's that's case out here, especially in the rivers that are fed from Mt rainier

Down here it's usually not knowing how to swim and/or getting pulled into the ocean by riptides that gets people. I've always kind of taken for granted knowing how to swim I guess, I find it weird to hear stories of grown adults drowning because they couldn't swim. But I was made to take lessons at a young age so it just feels like something that comes naturally I suppose.

I think the only thing worse than drowning would be burning. Both would be terrible ways to go though.

What was really sad was Mark Foo professional big wave surfer drowning at Mavericks in California on a normal wave back in 94.

That sucks. I've never been surfing but I can imagine if the conditions were just right (or wrong, as they were) and you get pulled under long enough then it doesn't really matter how well you can swim.

I'm not a big fan of being in the water anyway, it took millions of years for us to evolve from ocean dwelling organisms to land dwelling mammals. I'm not gonna tempt fate

Spent the better part of yesterday putting together logo options for the owner of the company to look at, to use on the website. The last one I put on the list was the worst of the bunch - he wanted a particular font used that wasn't a real font, it was just a design someone made years ago for his company name. So I had to chop it up to recreate new words, it looked like shit imo.

Of course that's the one he picked
