why the fuck is everything disposable?

the hot side intercooler pipe on the ford uses crimped bands to hold the intercooler boots on. I have a boost leak at one of them as the crimped clamp seems to be sliding off the end of the pipe. The boots are not meant to be replaced. The P/N I think will fit is $40 ea (which is a gamble), plus a couple bucks to add clamps each end. I can buy a whole new pipe with clamps and silicon boots from Rudy's for $99.

more like someone at ford decided you could save $1 per truck by using 2x crimped bands instead of regular clamps

The reason why even experienced swimmers drown here is because of the dynamics of the ocean that they weren't expecting. You can swim in lakes and pools your whole life, you can be a competitive swimmer, etc., then you visit the ocean, it's a nice sunny day, doesn't look violent, waves aren't huge, so you jump in and find yourself in a rip being sucked straight out away from the shoreline and you can't swim back to it and don't know how to properly handle it. That's a psychological surprise to a lot of people and it's when they panic and tire themselves out and that's when things get bad. If you haven't grown up in it there's no shame to spend a little time looking things up before you head out on vacation. I wouldn't do something like go backcountry snowboarding without learning about the dynamics of deep snow and avalanche risks. A little reading can save your life.

*A lot of people also ignore when warning flags are up on beaches but that's another issue and that's on them. And they drink and jump on in.

Yeah they put out riptide signs all over the beaches down here when the conditions aren't safe, but of course there are always people that ignore them. And the worst riptides tend to happen when the ocean looks the calmest from the surface. Get sucked out far enough in one of those and you're not swimming back

@Speedytech7 From a shameless noob, when I'm able to get back out and look, does that cable run to the passenger side of the transmission?

The same reason why using rips makes it easier for us to get out to the lineup is why people drown when they're not ready for it. Swimming diagonally to shore helps, especially once you're out of it, but you can also just wade, not swim hard, and let it take you out, where it'll then spit you out to the side and you're in calm water. Hopefully not too far out. You can see the rips pretty clearly from the beach and if you can get to some elevation, like in CA, you can really see them.

And he probably got a bonus for doing so. If they made 900,000 trucks in 2019 like google says, he saved them almost a million bucks.

Interesting, I've wondered how they know when the riptides are bad when it's hard to see anything from the shore. Makes sense that if you get up high you can see them more clearly

I know you can see it underneath, it runs into the trans near where the aluminum case meets the trans pan. Easy enough to see

If you know what you're looking for you can see it from the beach. Again it's just time spent I guess. The rip will usually run out in a channel, so if waves are breaking all over then you see a spot where waves aren't breaking, but there are waves to the left and right of it, that's a good indicator. (Obviously depending on where you are that can also be something underwater, like a gap in a reef) A lot of the time it's also an obviously different color/cloudier because sand is pushed around in it. Sometimes there's some upwelling around or in it too.
