Yep, agreed. I've seen a few people go through chemo. Every time I wonder if its worth it.

Grandpa got colon cancer and they cut it out. Was strong armed by my grandmother to get chemo (due to her success after her breast cancer even though it laid her out for years after the fact) it was the chemo that actually killed him. A rare side effect, but it started crystallizing his lungs and when he finally passed the final xray showed the bottom 1/3rd of his lungs were rock solid.

Cancer sucks and if I live long enough to get it and cutting it out doesn't take care of it, imma just let it kill me

I know you were close to your grandparents.

Colon cancer is exactly what my friend had; cut it out but what finally took his life was a bad infection he developed after the surgery.

Never made it to chemo.

My lineage has a strong predisposition to colon cancer on both sides of the family, if I live long enough that the inevitable adult onset diabetes doesn't take me, I'm almost guaranteed to get it lol.

I highly doubt he'd want to anyway

And any random person would take a week just to learn all the fucked up nuances of this place, so the idea just isn't a very good one

I dunno how much of a vacation its going to be, the whole trip itself is coming apart lol. Reunion cancelled due to covid, my grandparents had some health issues come up over this past week and don't want to commit to seeing us now because of it, gonna be traveling with a jet lagged 18 month old...

 

It will be good though to get some family time in either way, even if it wasn't how we planned it originally.
