Someone finally got it. Yes and No, only if the clamshell bushing causes other issues then yes as long as they can prove that was the issue. If your engine goes out your good.

 

Thanks for the info... So am I right in thinking the only difference between the TRD lift shocks and 5100's is the 5100's have smaller increments in lift and goes to 2.5"? TIA

 

Too bad there isn't a rear adjustable shock....

Well, when I got my alignment today I had the service manager give me an actual cost for the needle bearing replacement with my ECGS. $700!!! That is crazy. Guess I am doing it myself. I am going to purchase the actual Toyota tool as it seems to be much less fuss using it compared to the ECGS one and no worries of dropping anything inside the diff.

So I can understand your situation a little better... have you done this OEM TRD lift and that has that caused your needle bearing vibration or is it due to wear & tear? How many miles has your truck done? Thanks!!

 

yes I did the TRD lift at the 1.5" lift not the full 2"
the truck has only 3400 miles. The lift caused the needle-bearing issue. I honestly was expecting it to happen thats why I bought the ECGS long before I even bought the lift

 

Yikes, that's less than ideal. Initially I thought you had a '16 but did see after I messaged you that you now have a '21.

I wonder how many of the dealer installed kits are going back for the bearing replacement. Have you heard of any?

I contacted my dealer yesterday to find out if they would match the online price of $320 for the 4 shocks and so far they have only quoted me for the full kit - $1550 + tax

 

Just order it online, its 10% off right now and free shipping. I heard people had luck with passport toyota. I have a 2020 with 9k miles, im still debating on lifting it. Lol i want too but then i dont want to deal with the problems.

 

I bet in the next 6months Toyota will be having a TSB with the lift and vibrations. Makes me want to just hold out and see if that ends up happening. Because it's not something I am worried about breaking as I read tons of people when many many miles its more of an annoyance. You don't notice it as much unless you are on a nice smooth road. You can still feel it in the dead pedal and a tiny bit in steering but its not something that makes the truck a nightmare to drive.

I'm in Hawaii so you have to add Island tax to everything, especially when stuff ships from the mainland, about $90 for the 4 shocks. Still not a bad deal. I'm the same as you 2020 <9k, the truck has done everything I've asked of it, but an extra couple of inches would be nice... I'm coming back to the mainland soon so may wait till then.

 

Oh okay, my apologies forgot to look you're from hawaii. Yeah I like the look of it too. I'm use to lowering because i also own a 15 wrx. This is my first truck. Ive got wheels and did stuff i didn't like about it already.

Had mine installed about a week ago. Total cost for kit and labor out the door was $2000 after tax. Also have the dealer install a set of icon RXT leaf springs and Timbren bump stops. The leaf and bump stop install was only an extra hour. Looks great and rides so much better. Couldn’t be happier.

 

I plan/want to install a 2" rear spacers and set the front shocks on the 3rd groove (2" lift). I want to preserve the current angle of the OEM rake, also thinking that the angle of the TSS will be preserved as a result.

Using blocks will allow me to continue to use the Sumo springs I installed, instead of installing an AAL, which would combat the Sumo spring usability.

I just want to increase the overall lift of the truck by 2 inches. If the set of these four new shocks enhance my TRD Off Road's felt suspension comfort too, that's perfect.

 

I am not sure how the off-road rides. I have noticed with the new shocks on my sport the ride feels smoother. It seems to soak up more bumps in the road. I am pleased with how it rides. That's why I bought a 1" block for the rear as I liked the way it feels now and didn't want to make it stiffer with an AAL

 

I have SumoSprings too, so wondering how it works out. Why would adding more leafs affect the SumoSprings? I think it would still work fine wouldn't it? If it worked for the Timbren I'd think the Sumos would be OK too?
