Define “offroading” genius. OP says he’s into camping and fishing. An SR 4x4 can easily handle those tasks. Fuck your off-road & your convoluted logic, lol. I’m done.

:mudding:Toyota obviously markets both trucks to give consumers a choice, pick the one that best suits your needs…

I think Colorado mountain trails when I think of Off Roading, which involves everything except hard core mud bogging.

He said: "Not really sure if I’m going to get into serious off-roading or not."

Have you ever met someone who bought an off road capable truck who didn't get the bug to do more? Why would you advise him to start on his back foot when for the same amount of money he can have a perfect starter kit?

And if the OP asked which trim Tacoma would be better to tow his Jeep, I'd point him towards a Tundra. But that isn't the conversation we're having sparky.

I never said that. I'm sure if he bought the Off Road and didn't like it, he'd learn to cope and lie just like the Sport owners do, but that's highly unlikely.

Gotta love (what I assume to be) a grown man getting butthurt over what other people on the internet do with their money. Guy must be a helluva financial advisor.

You'd think if these Sport owners were actually as satisfied as they pretended to be about their purchase they wouldn't feel the need come running in droves to defend it.

You Off Road guys seem to do the same when someone thinks about buying a TRD Pro.

A Pro would have been a waste for me since I would have ended up tossing or selling most of the things that make it a Pro and I wanted an AC, but they seem ideal for someone who wants just a little more than the OR has to offer and doesn't plan on doing much to it afterwards. I don't even know if the typical "The Pro costs so much more" argument is still valid since that's always been based on Off Roads being bought for under MSRP which seems like a relic of the before times now. Once you add all the things to an Offroad that Pro comes with, I think you're in the same ballpark price wise and you don't get the suspension and soon to be UCAs.

The only time I warm up the troll machine is when people pretend that the Sport is just as capable as the Off Road. It isn't. Full stop. Is it close enough that most people would never notice? Probably. But when an outdoorsman starts a thread asking which would be better for their needs and they mention that they may get into the hobby, the Off Road trim (at the same price as a Sport) is the only solid advice.

I hate to break it to you, but sport is just as capable off road as an off-road, SR5 and sr.

Do you have any pics on trails in your sport taco with open diffs? Someone would appreciate them...
