The slow and methodical approach is noticeable, very well done.

I have a bad habit of leaving the wire speed high and just muscling through... although I really only weld when at work where time is more valuable to the project then finished ascetics.

High solid flat black paint and/or powder coat hides my shame  I'll take some pictures tomorrow to show you what I mean lol

Paint isn't my strong suit lol. I have little patience for drying and prepping. But I definitely covered up some sketchy welds with paint when I first was learning.

Hahahaha I'll recognize those pictures ANYWHERE. Not to be a fanboy but during a Google rabbit hole I stumbled upon the write up those pictures are from, years ago... before I was a member and only had the 4R. Reading through it was one of the final nails in the coffin for me to find and switch over to a tacoma and finally become a member on this site

I'm trying to decide if I should replace the fuel pump before the CO trip or just carry it along as a spare. Really, no issues with the old one. Just been reading too many stories about high-altitude fuel issues.

The alternator is going out on the Civic. I didn't plan to spend time on that car this month. Usually, I don't like working on a Honda.

 This one was my mom's car before she stopped driving. I think it tries to punish me for having it surrounded by Toyotas and Nissans.

My parents both drove manuals for the longest time. When I was very young I couldn't understand why they wouldn't adopt new technology. Then when I got older I did the same thing and preferred a manual for the driving feel. Funny how that worked out.

I wonder what it would be like to run some post-mounted spotlights like the ones on this 49 Merc? I once borrowed a 51 Chevy pickup that had some. I tried it but don't remember much about how they work. I see some now with a group of LEDs.

I had a job while in highschool delivering Rx for a drugstore in a Chevy Nova 6cyl 3 on the tree. The Nova had Cop style spotlights to see house numbers at night and for finding Bigfoot.

LOL - My experience was around the same age with a service station truck that we used to go care for cars with dead batteries. Since the 50 Chevy truck with 6 volt, we carried a freshly charged 12 volt. Most of the time we carried a new battery for the specific car and sold it on the spot. They had a 56 Chevy wrecker. They had both dressed up. I remember the wrecker had a 265 V8 with the typical 265 hydraulic lifter tick.

Ahh the good old days of a "Full Service" station.

Lots of Marvel mystery oil ran through clacky hydraulic lifters in the 50s:rofl:
I bet that wrecker got a four barrel swap 20hp mod

LOL - Yep it got swapped. I think the new (rebuilt) engine was a 327. It was a screaming 56 wrecker after that.
