Test drove a 2021 Gladiator and ...

Agreed. He beats the ever loving shit out of that Gladiator. I love it.

 

My buddy just fit a 37 inch spare underneath his gladiator as well. Think he just had to let air out to around 12 psi.
I should add he had to do minimal work to fit 37s and he has been out wheeling in with no issues, pretty nice to not have to get the cutting torch out to make things work.

That's a beauty! That's exact trim I would buy except it would be white.

 

The AEV wheels covered there are the same dimensions, BS/offset/size as the Method 313s I mentioned earlier but the Method 313s are much lighter. Those AEV wheels are significantly heavier than stock, which isn't good.

Here I weighed the stock 17" wheels, 24.4lbs. Those AEV wheels are a ridiculous 35lbs. The Method 313s are 23.5lbs.



Also if going with the Toyo AT3 35s, not only are they much lighter than the tires he recommends, but they also come in a 35x11.5 vs 35x12.5, so you don't have any rubbing issues that require aftermarket wheels.

Definitely my favorite trim with the upgraded interior, awesome suspension, frame strengthening upgrades and of course the higher hood/cowl line that looks more truck and less Wrangler. Bonus for white, is in 2021 they started charging a stupid premium for every color, except white. In 2020 it was only metallic colors that were charged at a premium.

 

That is good to know! The dealer keeps calling me to come make a deal on a gladiator but I know that if I hold off until the beginning of 2022, I will probably have better luck on getting a better deal compared to how the market currently sits. I currently have a daily so I'm in no huge rush.

Maybe. It is the used vehicle market that is crazy right now for pricing, not so much the new ones which are just based on MSRP. So I wouldn't necessarily anticipate better deals next year if used vehicle demand softens as new vehicle demand increases. The price of a well optioned JT went up a few thousand dollars between 2020->2021 as they increased the price on nearly every single option and line item, the paint was just one example.

I wanted a 2020 in Gobi (which Jeep only makes available the first year of production as a limited edition color), when we couldn't find one optioned the way I wanted I decided to custom order one, but at that point in mid-late Aug of 2020 they had already switched to taking orders for 2021 models, so I ordered a 2021 in Sting Grey instead. Optioned the exact same way was thousands more in MSRP price than the 2020. Probably the best deal is to buy a 2021 in late 2021 when the 2022s start showing up on the lots, of course your options will also then be most limited. If you custom order a truck you just pay MSRP regardless, that can seem like 'not a good deal' but that isn't necessarily the case since you don't end up paying for options you don't want.

 

I mean at that point is it even a gladiator anymore? I feel like when you get to this point with a vehicle it doesn't even matter what it originally was anymore...

Thus far I am loving my Gladiator. Fuel efficiency has been surprisingly great.

THIS ^100%. After all that, the only thing left is the "Jeep" emblems. I tried making this point earlier, TRD Pro, with the same budget & add-ons, and you get an equally capable vehicle, cheaper, with one HUGE advantage - reliability. I wish they were dependable - those things are billy goats, have better-than-anything aftermarket support, and, well - removable top. In the end, if I get out there, I also need to get back, and that's where Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler/Fiat fall over the cliff.

 

It was a great truck. I did not drive it enough to see any issues. A smaller truck suits my needs better. The Gladiator is cool but I feel the Tacome is built quite a bit better

 

Still having the Pro here and can literally switch back and forth and examine every aspect I cannot agree with that statement for example my Gauge cluster trim was not fully clipped properly when I picked it up new at the dealer. On the Gladiator everything was lined up properly. Steering wheel leather wrap felt different on the right side of the wheel vs the left. No squeaky clutch pedal ( Gladiator has AISIN transmission made in Japan). Still love the Tacoma but fit and finish is great on the Gladiator and good on the Tacoma.

 

Lets see where its at , at the 50,000 mile point.

 

I am sure it will be fine. As I mentioned I have years of experience with jeeps in general along with Toyota. But at this point it seems as if you have already made up your mind that it will fall apart. And you know what I respect your opinion.

 

I like to think of my Wrangler as a Maserati because that's as much as it has in common with it as it does with Fiat.

FCA has 3 models they survive on. Ram 1500 truck and Jeep GC and Wrangler. That's it. They let Fiat screw that up and it's over.

Yup. My Wrangler has had less issues than my Tacoma. And if it does end up with issues, so what. Sell it, trade it, get something else. What's the point of living in fear of What Ifs?

 

my TJ is my 4th ride and favorite... now I found out it has an oil leak.. doesn't bother me.. I will take it to the dealership and have them fix it.. I aint going too hate on it knowing I bought it used shady dealer...
