Interesting analysis. I also think hiring the “right” millennial for the job is key. There’s also a lot of us that want instant gratification when it comes to work/career (pros and cons from this & my personal belief). Either way good read, thanks for sharing.

 

I don't know man having a bar within walking distance of my house and the deepfried Mac and cheese balls at the vault make it hard to cross the river!!

It seems to be you can get whatever you want as long as it's fried or a sandwich LOL!!

Kidding aside there are plenty of choices...

 

Most people my age (born in late 90's, dunno what the hell you call that) arent looking for long term jobs either. Work a few years at one place then hop over to another. I work 40-50 hours a week and do pretty good with forgetting about work when Im home. A few of the older semi-retired guys I know pretty much lived their entire life for the company and I dont want that.

 

Haha I actually was born and raised in Joliet!!

Bolingbrook was one of the few towns around there that had actual non service based economy, so it kept our taxes low, relatively, still absurd. Traffic really sucked! When covid popped off it was almost like nothing happened due to all that industry.

 

I would actually like to move back to hickory. I grew up there and just generally like the area. If we both didn’t work in Charlotte it could be a possibility.

 

Because the company use to know you by your name not just a punchcard #. There's a balance between you being a "company" man and then being taken advantage of or just settling for stagnation at one place.

 

I gotcha. Yea, brother still lives in Chi-town so when I go see him every once in a while we go out to the burbs. A lot has changed that’s for sure.

There is even a big difference between CHI and CLT

Born and raised in Charlotte. Was a baby when my parents moved from Dilworth to Matthews. I live in Madison Park now. It’s too noisy and not enough property for me, but the woman loves it here
