Factory Lift Kit, TSS System, Larger Tires?

Anyone with a TRD Off Road and the factory lift kit also go to larger tires? I know part of the lift kit adds the TRD Pro grill so the TSS sensor can be mounted lower to account for the added height--if I went to 33" - 35" tires, is that going to screw with the TSS system?

I'm not sure I really care that much about TSS--I live in the Adirondacks so I go years between driving in the kind of traffic where it'd be useful. But I was curious.

I don't know how much added height would screw up the TSS system. My TRD OR SB has the lift kit and 32" tires, and it's already rubbing the mud flaps. So hopefully you're already accounting for the needed wheel well modifications for 33" - 35" tires. When I told the service manager at the dealership that I was adding 32" tires and asked whether I would need to get the TSS recalibrated (?), he said that would not be necessary.

Hi, I am so far a happy TRDOR owner with the factory lift. I bought 0 offset wheels run them with the stock size Nitto Terra Grapplers. I think the stock size tires look good with the little bit of lift. No issues with rub or gas mileage.

Can you post a pic w/the Nittos? Was planning on going up from stock size but am on the fence.

Not the greatest pic. I am happy the driving dynamics have not changed from the stock tire and wheel combination.

TSS shouldn't be an issue. Are you switching the grille out by any chance? Because that could lead to a temporary issue as seen in this message (caused by poorly designed sensor garnishes... I had this issue once)

Isn’t the Pro grill part of the factory lift?

this is the TRD lift of 2" with Toyo AT3's that are one profile size larger then stock.... if stock is 265-70-16 then these are 265-75-16. Hope that helps a bit

Ironman Foam Cell lift, I think I am about 2.5”-3.5” higher than normal in the front, but not sure since my suspension was sagging already, but anyways no affect that I see on the TSS.

This is the one thing holding me out from buying the lift for my offroad. I like my grill better than the pro. I know, I know. Im in the minority.

Drives better than stock, at least better than my previous 2nd and 3rd gens. Also with the rpt1 my fuel economy went up even with the 33s. I put a stainless steel cap on it and it seemed to smooth out the rear too. These trucks seem to ride smoother with some weight in the back

I'm lifted with the Bilstein 5100s and no issues. I'm 2 inches in the front and a 1 in block. No calibration needed and I used the TRD Pro grill and garnish. FYI its not a factory lift, just a re-stickered 5100s from Bilstein. Same shock but not enough settings as the 5100s.

There are more of us here than you think.

I am somewhat perplexed when folks go through the effort of debadging their Tacoma, then install that Pro grill with TOYOTA stretched across it.

Ive always rebadged everything. Don't like the chrome, don't like the look, and everyone already knows what it is. I remember when the fj promo came out and I was so excited to see that old school Toyota lettering again. If you remember the Satoshi diy grill mods from tw from years ago? Lot of cutting, fiberglass, bondo, and tracking down various vintage parts to get the job done. Then the pro came out, and now I can just buy the part. It's something I've always admired about the classic Toyotas and I still believe it's how they should come. On a side note, I'm perplexed you don't take the effort to debadge the plastic chrome off of your truck!

They can't keep the parts they pull, and depending on what state you live in they may not even have to swap it. Swap it back if they do and sell the grill locally or on here. It's an oem grill that is probably worth the effort of selling it if you do.

I put the Pro Grill in my 2021 SR5 4X4 (stock height) and the TSS mounted several inches lower (approximately 4 inches). It still works perfect and did not need any recalibration. Hope that helps.

I did the same and worked fine but it was stock height and stock rake. I think the sensory issues were more common for people who lifted while also leveling? Which is exactly what the TRD kit is. Someone needs to just try it and see if it still works? My dealership broke all my shit otherwise I'd give it a try. 20210711_173218.jpg
