VF tuning collaboration and BS

Same, but too late for me. A year later and I’m still not satisfied with my purchase. Cost over $1000cdn and I went back to stock tune more than 6 months ago as I didn't notice any significant difference in my trucks behaviour with 2.0, and was fairly certain I was getting some detonation under heavy accel. I also purchased with the belief that performance tunes where “right around the corner” so to speak, and that it would fix the bogging while making turns. That part may be my mistake and I accept that. I don’t really want to join the VF forum as the Tacoma section seems to be a ghost town…. The whole thing leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth so to speak. I really wish it didnt.

 

Yeah. It's messed up for those of us who updated in accordance. And like you said. The people who are using the old software and files won't have anything to worry about still. Sounds like he regrets making this open source even though he still made money from everyone having to buy credits. And now wants anyone who is legitimately buying credits and registering vins to spend even more money for the pro tuner license. What do we expect though. It's been a cluster fuck since the beginning. And those of us who aren't tuning other Tacoma's just wanted a 2.0 file that actually had all the promised features we were told it would have a long long time ago. At least with people like yourself. The rest of us got a solid tune finally.

As it goes with just about anything. A few ad apples spoil the whole bunch. That being said how can I get the 2.0 tune?

If you still have your dongle you can email mat to get it switched out as I recall and then get the updated software for a discounted price.

Yes and to upgrade to vF as the dongles and PCM files are no longer supported.

In other news, if you haven’t tried DownhillDragon’s new version of his Powerthirst tune, I suggest it, it is very impressive.

Seriously highest consistent mpgs (+4, 17-21 mpg always) with very good power throughout the curve. I did some testing on and off road, towing 4500 lbs, and had him make me the same tune with a custom ECT mode. TC characteristics specific to 3rd gear in ECT for towing and I have to say, I’m not changing from this tune and I’ve done them all pretty much. When not in ECT this tune flys on the highway and is very smooth.

I was skeptical because everyone seems to have a tune these days, but Mooseditty gave him some advice and the result is my favorite so far.
