OK guys, this thing is the bomb. Got it for Father's Day. Kuiu Gila Hoodie. I've worn it maybe a 1/2 dozen times while working out, hiking with a 40lb pack trying to get this thing to stink. I think I found my new favorite piece of early season gear, especially first week of September chasin' elk. Only issue is sizing is a bit off. I normally wear a large, and this is suppsoed to be a loose fit. It could be just a touch more loose. Pretty sure the Xlarge would be too big. Anyhow it's a great piece of gear. Paired with a merino undershirt, I think even chilly mornings would be doable.upload_2021-6-29_19-2-10.jpg

I’m super into KUIU right now. Bought their pro pack system last season and bought a bunch of workout clothes this spring. Love it all. Might cough up the money for this hoodie!

I like the Kuiu outerwear and mid layers. For base layers, it's FirstLite all the way. I haven't found anything as soft as their merino. Just super comfortable. I have several of the 150wt wick tees I wear all summer.

Keep an eye on it. They were sold out previously and had some back in stock for a few days.

Yea I know they do that sometimes. Happened with the bino harness I wanted last year

in other news I’m headed to CO on Friday (5:30am flight out :() to do some scouting for archery elk in September. Pumped to spend a couple days in the backcountry but wish it was with our new trailer. Not enough time to drive and get our scouting done though

If you are having to hump it here are a couple options for you: I used this for years: Blacks Creek All American Lumbar Pack. Discontinued. (Why is all the good stuff ALWAYS discontinued.)

Here is their closest replacement: Cure Lumbar Pack – 1200 ci – BLACKS CREEK GUIDE GEAR Their website: BLACKS CREEK GUIDE GEAR – OUTDOOR PRODUCTS

I found a better way. Wear your pack: Tacgear - Commando Smock Generation 2
Tacgear KSK Smock Flecktarn | Recon Company (recon-company.com) Or as my daughter refers to it, my Serial Killer's Jacket.
Durability on a whole 'nother level. It has a massive "poacher's" pocket inside the back, but I have only used it to carry my hammock tarp if we were going in overnight. There is enough storage otherwise in the body and the pockets to carry everything I need. I've even carried my hammock, under-quilt and sufficient water. The most well thought-out and well-designed piece of equipment I've owned in over fifty years of hunting. Very heavy duty too. LONG sleeves: when it rains your hands and gloves are up in the sleeve: the water drips off the sleeve past your fingertips, not on to your hand or glove. Smock is cut generous so that it does not bind up when you articulate your arms, even with several layers of clothing underneath. Pocket flaps are massive, no rain gets in. Whatever you carry, they designed a place for it.

And before you jump to conclusions, no, I do not take a bottle of Crown hunting. My rattling sack ripped, so I put the rattling sticks in a Crown bag. Worked good too! Rattled up my second largest buck while I was eating some nuts, not really vested in the process. Turned around and there he was right up on me. Liked to have choked on the nuts.

Much cheaper than the Ozonics but, I’m not a fan of the Busbice family or they’re products or hunting shows.

My Hyperforce is a 80 pound draw bow now. Got her paper tuned at the shop that changed my limbs today, and my bare shaft and fletched arrow were an inch apart at the indoor range. This is my heavy arrow bow (560 grain) and I’m trying to improve the pin gaps, move the sight back out a little. Running 120 grain ethics insert/ sleeve with 125 grain kudupoints.

Meanwhile working on my Rx1’s arrows - glued in steel Iron Will hit insets, and got steel sleeves for them. I’ll use the same 125 kudupoint broadheads for a total weight of about 470 grains for my spot and stalk bow with a little less arrow drop.

Look at the difference in just one month's growth:

    6/9/21

    20210609 - Five bucks at 11am 2.jpg

    7/8/21

    202106708 - Five bucks .jpg

And there is at least 2-1/2 to 3 months of growth left!
