My family and I have been here since June ‘06. Came here for the wife’s job with a 6 month old and an 1.5 year old and no family. Moved from the Phoenix area where I used to hunt, hike, camp and wheel.

Oh Newton’s a good place. Yep Denver, the poor side of Lake Norman as I like to put it haha. Growing though, which I would prefer it wasn’t.

Denver is expensive. We want to move there, but also don’t want to be poor in order to afford the mortgage. It’s too bad it’s exploding in population and subdivisions. Traffic is already starting to suck on 16 during rush hour.

You’re right, home prices in Denver are now catching up to those in Huntersville, Cornelius etc. fortunately we bought our house years ago when it was affordable, and it’s value has rocketed since then. Old Hwy 16 has been a mess at rush hour for years with the traffic light bottleneck at Triangle, they plan to add some lanes which might help. New 16 is great but it runs right into old 16 into Charlotte-traffic there was bad 20 years ago and now even worse. Timing is everything for driving here lol.

Tractor Supply can fill it. I use them to fill my 100 lb tank for my generator.

I had the upper managers at my building trying to convince me to move there. I looked at the home prices and the subdivisions and said f that. Coupled with it being directly down river of that fly ash damn, I'm good. Where I'm at is orders of magnitude better in my limited opinion hahaha!!

Not sure where you’re talking about but Denver’s not down river, it’s on and adjacent to Lake Norman. Below the dam on the lake is the Catawba river and Mountain Island lake and on that is the Riverbend plant between Denver and Charlotte, the ash basins there were excavated in 2019. On the north side of Lake Norman is the Marshall plant and ash basin excavation there is planned years down the road. Denver’s not threatened imho, remaining basins are well monitored since the Dan River in Virginia fiasco.
