Incredibly easy. Notch above a fire road but there’s an “obstacle” or two up there that are optional. PM me and I’ll go this weekend!

    I've taken the mudflaps off?
There is nothing even close to Santiago Peak that I even consider "Offroading" really, the closet and in my opinion most fun area to us in the OC is Anza Berrego. I don't post much on TW, but I have a few pics on a reddit post on Anza Berrago, and ANYONE that wants to go out with me is more than welcome to come:

You can find my last Anza Berrago trip with a few pics here:

It's usually in the 90s by noon and 100 in the afternoon, I either go very early, or most of the time head out and truck-camp at dark and then get up with the Sunrise, wheel around until about noon then drive up to Julian for lunch and a piece of pie then head back to the OC.

Before I moved out here 15 years ago I lived in Phoenix for 20 years, so all of my 4-wheeling, dirt biking, mountain biking, hiking, etc was either done the same way....or you just sat at home all summer.

I can handle heat a lot easier than I can handle not getting out for the weekend!

Hi everyone, I'm in OC (anaheim) and pretty much new to off-roading. Would like to tag along with you guys on an easy trail to see how is it. If there's an up coming trip, let me know. Hopefully work and kids allow me to go.

Haven't seen any trips planned or organized in OC lately, but I can meet you in the high desert. There are lots of little easy trails in Hesperia. They are not scenic, but good for getting comfortable in the dirt. Also, a nicer drive would be from Apple Valley to Fawnskin (Big Bear). It's an easy trail. Takes at least 2hrs to complete.
In addition, Azusa Canyon is now open. The good thing about that place is there is always plenty of people around to help if you go alone and have any issues.

For sure I'll let you know ahead of time if im heading up that way. Chances are I might have to take my kids w/ me lol.

Which part of OC are you in? I'm in Anaheim and probably in the same boat as you are w/ kids. I've been searching and there's two place about 1hrs away, red Rock caynon and holy Jim falls trail. Im planning to go there w/ the kids one of this weekend.

I think Holy Jim is still closed. Where is Red Rock Canyon? I know there's a Red Rock trail in Whiting Ranch but it's a hiking trail.

No problem. Sometimes I take my 5yr old with me. Airing down your tires will make the ride much more comfortable for them.

I haven't check if closed or open. Red Rock caynon is about 20-30 min away from holy Jim. Not sure if it's for hiking only or both. I just googled offroad near oc and those two pop up. But I'll check for more info before I head out.

Monday (July 4th), I went to LA national Forest w/ a few coworker and travel on some dirt road. The road looks flat, but it was a bumpy ride as hell. For sure next time I'll air down lol.

If you don’t mind taking a newb, I’d like to learn about the whole air down process.

Hi, OC local and avid off roader, not sure if you’re still looking for easy wheeling but here’s a few.

There’s of course Santiago Peak, which is a fire road

Cleghorn Road, which has offshoots of varying difficulty, but if you stick to the main road than it’s easy. That’s located in the Cajon Pass area
Pilot rock trail is a similar idea to Cleghorn, which also starts near the end of that trail. Stick to the main road and you’re fine

Stoddard Wells is another fun area, lots of open desert. If you do go out there, visit Slash X cafe it’s neat

Big Bear is another option. There are many trails up, down and around the mountain of varying difficulty.

Yeah, I can help you out. It's a simple process, but it makes a big difference.

    Agree on VIAIR.

I’m actually running this Rigid one (https://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-18-Volt-Digital-Inflator-Tool-Only-R87044/313257505)
because I had the power tool set/batteries already and I’ve been impressed with it. Also plugs into cigarette lighter. I know it’s not technically an off road compressor but works well and nice to have around the house.
