I keep reading online about these “local dealers” of various goods... I’m not sure what that is. I’m out in the sticks... I feel fortunate that I can buy groceries locally

I know it won’t be as ideal, but I am leaning more toward an add-a-leaf at the moment, to try and keep costs down. I do not drive this truck a ton (only 14k miles in the last 2.5 years); I’d just like it to look nice and not punish me excessively on my way to and from jobs on the back roads of VT.

your best suggestion for an AAL kit?

And thanks again for your replies :)

Fair enough. Icon makes an add-a-leaf option that many seem to use. That would be the option to use. What I prefer about the complete springs is that it's a simpler process, but I can also understand there's a higher cost to that route as well.

The add-a-leaf will be cheaper to ship though too.

More than happy to help! :canada:

Two and a half years overdue: I finally relocated the fuel filler. I plan on building some sort of a lid over the whole area to keep rain and snow out of there a bit.

    thanks for your help!

I did my first fill-up with it today. So nice being able to pump at full speed, and not spill a drop.

Truck looks fantastic. I’ve read a ton over on the other forum.
My new bed is on order. Before it gets here, couple quick questions if you don’t mind (keep me from reinventing the wheel): How is the top tool box holding up, size you went with and source/link?
How’s the new fuel filler working out? Source/link for hoses and sizes?
Source/link for the fenders? I apologize if all this info has been posted already. I couldn’t seem to find it.
just an FYI Will be using the set up for camping, mtn biking, and farm work.

Not to hi-Jack the thread, but we make fenders and boxes at Summit Expedition Trucks here in Canada.

Upper toolbox is great. It’s really well made. The under tray boxes are just ok.

the fenders are prone to cracking, especially if you stretch them out the way I did. But they’re not falling off or anything. (I would check out what Summit Expedition/Ralf has for fenders; I’m sure they’re 100x better)

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01347CC8I?ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image

Fuel filler is working out well. There’s a slight kink in the main line; I can still fill up without issue using the second notch on the fuel handles. Could’ve avoided the kink I believe if I had cut the hose a bit shorter to keep it straighter.

I got all the hoses I needed on Amazon. But I would check local ag stores first as you could probably save some coin sourcing them locally. @Ralf gave me the sizes... lemme see if I can find them here in a bit.

edit: here you go. I found these sizes to all work well (both length and diameter).

    • 3ft, 1” Fuel Line - Agricultural Fuel Line
    • 3ft, 5/8” Fuel Line - Standard
    • 3ft, 1/4” Fuel Line - Standard
    • Hose clamps to match the above hoses

    Same bed as you.
Thank you so much for all the links and information. Extremely helpful! I plan to do some grinding and welding but for the most part is should be fine for what I plan to use it for. When I ordered it I was told the deck measured 66” and the rub rail is outside that. Not sure if that’s true but looking at the photos I wish it were a little wider. Unfortunately the next size up is way too big for what I need.
One last thing. Did you have any fuel line left over? My bed will be mounted higher than yours so I wonder if 3’ will be enough.
Thanks again for all the info. It’s a massive help.

Extremely nice products! I think the plan now is to build my own fenders. If that changes I will definitely hit you up.

I’ll go measure what I have left. I got 5 foot sections because it’s what was readily available. I had quite a bit leftover.

how much higher are you going on the bed?

I believe I got the 68” bed. I would’ve loved a custom 72”or 74” wide bed, but the prices were quite prohibitive at the time.

my shortest section remaining is 31”. The longest is 40”. Cut from 60” pieces.

You should definitely be good just getting 3’ of each diameter hose if you plan on installing your filler in the same place I did. Very worst case scenario, mount the filler 3 or 4 inches lower on that corner plate. Might free up a tiny amount of bed space, as well.

note: I have a bit of a kink in the filler hose (1” line). Your best bet is to try and run the hoses as straight and short as you can reasonably get away with. I overestimated what I needed, and was left with a kink.

I’m hoping to have fender/wheel well height the same front and back. Not sure but I’m thinking it might be a fair amount higher. Perhaps there will be room to go under the bed?
