    I really need to replace my knock sensor harness " running on 1 sensor for now, so i will get to the injector clening soon.

    I literally chased a rear main seal leak by replacing a ton of gaskets so im in no rush to dive back in.

    Motor west did mine for around 125.00 with 2 day turn around or so,

    My boost stayed the same but my power went up quite a bit from 3500 up

    You have a different MAF sensor and tube design, so it’s not for your year.
    The earlier years had a restrictive tube design and the MAF sensor comes as one piece with the tube
    that the dealership changes 800.00 for instead of just a small screw in MAF sensor
    that was changed somewhere in 1998.

    If you use an aftermarket MAF or one of the many fake OEM MAF sensor it might show a lean number.

    I have at least 75,000 miles on this swap with zero issues.

    If you have a weak fuel pump
    If you have a dirty fuel filter
    If you have injectors that need new filters or cleaning
    If you have an aftermarket MAF
    If you have ANY vacuum leak

    If any of the above needing attention you will get a lean code too

    Drive fine without issue or light, only once I put that maf sensor on the light comes on lean. Maybe too much air flow

    So I'm trying to do this 5 pin conversion for my 96 Tacoma 2.4 and it wouldn't run. It would start up and then stall and die in 2 sec. I'm using a Spectre performance 3" air sensor mount from AutoZone with a Spectre Performance
    $9 SPE-8148 8148 Air Duct Mounting Plate
    SPE-8148 3" Air Duct Mounting Plate. I am currently trying a 02 Camery MAF (Denso 22204-07010) which I am not sure how the MAF internal wiring different from the Denso
    $102 22204-22010 Intake Meter Sub-Assembly
    22204-22010 but I think they wouldn't be any different. I just ordered a Denso22204-07010 from ebay and I'll see what happen when it comes. As for now, I'll take the MAF from my 05 Prius and test it out on my conversion because they use the same Denso MAF model.

    Below is an image of what I have to deal with atm and the pinout to the MAF.

    Thanks, 1997tacomav6. So your saying that in order for this to really work, it would require an 1997 up ECU to even work/function properly? That going to be hard to find!

    It seems that others tried this swap that were 95+96 and it didn’t work to well.
    1997 they switched to a newer type ECU

    Alright, some new. I was able to swap MAF Denso
    $102 22204-22010 Intake Meter Sub-Assembly
    22204-22010 from my 05 prius and with the Denso 22204-07010 (02 Camery) and the 05 prius ran fine with the 02 Camery MAF. But with the test of the correct Denso 22204-22010 in the 96 tacoma it still have the same issue.

    So, I'm trying to understand this. According to this thread, it was ruled out that the ECU found in the 95-96 Tacoma used a different mapping that separated the IAT & MAF. But what I don't understand is that this wouldn't cause an issue as long as the wire is pin to the same pinout location to the ecu and the signal is being wired to the correct pin on the 5pin MAF sensor, then it should still work. Unless the 97 Tacoma ECU was mapped to recognize a 5pin MAF and vice versa to the 5pin MAF Sensor. Correct?

    You might have to get a different wire harness for the 1997 UP ECU.
    Toyota was constantly changing these ECU
