Sorry I meant the pre load spacers where the drive shaft mates up to the 3rd member. I think I am naming the part correctly.

lol thanks. after each and every trip (mojave road, big bear, joshua tree, red rock state park, rowher flats, etc.) i get under and scrub everything down. it is a pita but it's worth it to me.

that is awesome! the amount of abuse these trucks can go through and the ability to climb 40degree hills all day and just keep on runnin amazes me! i am glad you get out there and use your truck for what God intended it for!!

I'm pretty sure at least some of these trucks, including mine, came with rear diff breathers that were only one way. ALL the original write ups that I've seen on 3rd gen rear breather relocations pointed to such and most included links and Toyota product numbers for two way breathers. I believe it was simply the part numbers for the front breathers which were two way. I definitely don't know why Toyota would have done this, possibly an accident, but I believe it to be true. I did the relocate on my truck the first week on ownership, with less than 200 miles on the truck. My breather was brand new, and definitely not a two way.

Did you replace yours, or did it clean up and flow both directions?

I can believe Toyota doing something like that. Having a two way for the front and not the rear. IDK why not just make both single direction flow.
After I removed the rear breather and cleaned it out I still could not get any kind of air flow either way through it.
I think the rear is one way flow so it can release the pressure when the diff gets hot and not allow any kind of water or debris ingress to get sucked back into the rear diff. Because it it sits right down near the ground where all that kinda crap can get back in.
The new extended breather I installed is one way and I have had zero issue in about 30k miles. In my opinion Toyota should have just installed the extended rear breather from the factory to start with. It seems like that is a MUST HAVE mod unless you stay on pavement all the time.
You were smart to add that to your truck right away!!

Ok, yeah. I did see that. So, I took the truck to the dealership today and they are saying that this is normal seepage and not a leak, so Toyota won’t pay the warranty claim to fix it. Wow. The tech went on to say that if oil actually started dripping from one of these two areas, then it would be considered a leak and then they’ll fix it. Just under 11K miles on the truck! This does not seem right.

    Just check the level periodically.

I have so much Fluid Film on my differential, it's impossible to determine if I even have seepage. It's easy enough to check the level though.

What a fucking pain! Sorry you are having trouble with them!
Since my engine had to be partly rebuilt from a leaking timing cover gasket, a new high pressure fuel pump needed to be installed, the a/c blower motor had to be swapped out, and the ECU update was done I formed good relationship with the manager at my local Yota and he told me they would reseal the pumpkin no problem. But for me however the new breather worked before it got to that.
I know that seems like a lot of work that had to be done and it is but the truck has never failed me. It has never failed to start, never failed to get up a steep hill, and it's a blast to drive.
