bass tube vs boxed subs

can someone please explain to me what a bass tube is and how it works, is it better than boxed subs, because i have a 1997 single cab and need somthing to fit behind the seat (i have a bench seat) could i put a bass tube behind the seat. thanks

 

Bass tubes suck there were 2 already installed in a car that I bought back in high school and they were weak. One properly boxed sub would blow away a or even two bass tubes.

 

Bass tubes are integrally amplified boxed speakers in a tube form factor instead of a box. They have small, low quality subs with under powered amps. You could use one but why would you?

 

I would recommend building your own box.
I previously owned a 93 pre-taco standard cab with bench seats and actually had a 10" sub and box tucked away behind the seat. The seat could be pushed back the whole way and it sounded much better than stock.
I still have that sub and box somewhere in storage and if you like I can dig it up this wknd and get you the dims + a pic or two. It is ugly as sin, but got the job done hooked up to a Rockford amp.

 

thanks guys. after reasearch on bass tube i decide to go with the boxed sub. i got a kicker comp 10in in a slim truck box this weekend and i hooked it to my amp and it sonds realy great. i just had to slide my seat up two clicks. but thanks anyways
