TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Keeping an eye out , lots of Tacoma’s here engines always on Craigslist. Also saw reman heads on eBay. Anyone know of a reputable name that sells rebuilt 4.0 heads? Getting the head already built would be a time saver.

I went on the TRX forum and immediately got a brain aneurysm. People just put 20’s and 24’s on as soon as they get home. Like a Raptor with a DB lift.

Let me monitor more FCA interiors as they come in. I don’t like peeling interiors. Also learned today I’m going to avoid GM. Guy at the shop was hammering on the spindle to get the tie rod off, as you do, and the whole spindle around the tie rod cracked. Brand new replacement spindles from the dealership is $120, wtf? Are spindles treated as disposables now?

 

Chevy and tie rods do the stanky leg. So I'd assume you change the front end with every oil change

 

Dude. EVERY part on every vehicle is treated as a disposable now. It is part of their planned obsolescence shift to treat vehicle like disposable household appliances. Either you pay through the nose for parts or you pony up and buy a new vehicle every few years.

It's the perfect business model. Which is why I don't touch GM anymore. Ever.

I guess I now know why GM hasn’t made a Raptor/TRX competitor. I think the air filter in my Lexus weighs more than that spindle lol.

It is. It further expands the carbon footprint which is contradictory to their "minimize carbon footprint" push. Their counter argument to that will be that that's what they have metal and parts recycling/ rebuild services for.

It's a really stupid way to band aid the bleeding wound they have created.

well. im committed to hp forever. sold my stock y-pipe and manifolds. they sell fast for those that have them.
covered almost half of my vacation for a memorial. so i got that goin for me.
memorials suck part of the time. the rest is fellowship i look forward to here. thanks all for such steady hp craving.

put it up for sale. i asked 200, spent 2 hours boxing for comifornia. 110$ shipping. buyer was stoked! they are easy sell for those in tough emmission states.

I swapped back to a stock ypipe for emissions. After driving with EL headers and EL ypipe for so long. It’s insane how much power is lost when your TRD supercharger is trying to push exhaust air through those cats. All the top end power is gone. 3500 RPMs and up is flat lined
