You had problems with AGM in your 1st Gen? I ran 2 Optima Yellow Tops off my old, tired, original Alt for 2 years with no problems. I've since swapped to a Cadillac Alt because it was "on the list" not because any problem.

An AGM needs a higher charging voltage. This can be accomplished various ways.

 

Oh I know. Mighty nice indeed. I'm working on justifying the need with my co-pilot.

Just messaged the jberry. I figure sometimes it is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. Actually, Mel has been very supportive of my mods so far.

 

I went with a duralast platinum AGM. I figured i didnt need anything special... And more importantly if i ever had any problems i could stop by any autozone in thr country and pick up a replacement on the spot (b/c ya know, duralast)


I went AGM and havnt swapped fuses with the voltagr booster thingy majiggy but its been like 4 years and less than 10,000 miles and shes doin alright

 

I been putting them in all my Vehicles for as long as I can remember(20+years) and never had one issue with them
