My very humble fish from today.

 

Hit a local body of water and got this. 4.2 lbs. I was giddy

 

Nice one! Backyard fun is the best. Getting out this weekend. Hopefully can avoid the crowds.

 

Haven’t posted in a while, but finally got out a few weeks back. Quick trip to new melones. Caught 5-6 thru the day, all smaller but fun nonetheless. Color on this guy was pretty cool.

Caught a bunch of dinks at the neighborhood watering hole. Any landed fish is a good time. Dark lil dudes.

 

Decided to go after some catfish at lake Sonoma last night. Got out at about 8 and stayed until 10:30. Wasn’t as prepared as I should have been (no glow sticks or bells to help identify bites in the dark) but had a few solid bites. Ended up missing every bite, but was still fun.

The real fun started when I hiked back up to my car only to notice the headlights were on. Knew right away the car was going to be dead as dead could be. This is a new car I just purchased a couple of weeks ago so I didn’t have my portable battery jumper in the trunk yet… only cables. No cell service, 11 o’clock at night in the middle of nowhere, thought I’d be camping overnight. Lol.

Luckily after about 30 minutes a car passed by and I was able to flag them down. Was able to convince them I wasn’t going to murder them and only needed a jump. They happily obliged and got me jumped after a couple of minutes. Got lucky!

I’m going back out for some catfish revenge soon. There are loads of 20lb+ catfish in that lake…. Just need to bring out my cat gear and go again!

 

Doesn’t your car sound an alarm if your lights are on when you shut off the engine and open the door? Anyway good luck on your next cat fishing trip.

 

This is an older civic, so the little chime sounds like the “door ajar” sound. Wasn’t used to hearing it so I think I assumed it was that. Lol

man, i might be tempted to join you bud. ill bring jumper cables and promise to turn around to see if your headlights are on.

 

Haha! Ill have my portable battery jumper from now on, so shouldnt be any concerns there! Dude I had one hit that literally doubled my big rod in half. I was tying on another pole and was about 12 feet from that rod when it buckled. By the time I realized what was going on and got down and set the hook, it was too late. I had some nice hits but couldnt plant the hook. Having a glow stick on the rod tip and/or a bell on the tip is a HUGE plus and I didnt have either, so it was really just fishing blindly for the most part.

Brown man dropped off a couple new rods yesterday. Can’t wait to get em spooled up.

Anyone have recommendations for a low ratio spool? Looking to pair my Crankbait rod with a good reel.
Paired my Sierra 734C with my new shimano SLX.
