Hey all, I have been looking for a new bumper for my truck for a while now. All the good companies have at least a 6 month wait time to even have it shipped, not even mentioning how expensive good armor is for a taco. I randomly found this deal while browsing the web, doesn't seem too bad IMO. I think the price is fair and that it would be a lot better than my current dented rear bumper lol. Let me know what you guys think; is this a good deal or maybe too good to be true?

That is Hooke Road. Metal that might be weak and thin with a finish reported to start rusting after a year.
No jack points. No hidden hitch.
Doesn't even integrate the hitch into the bumper to save weight, so you will still have all that stock crap hidden underneath/behind it.
Might not even have better departure angles or an upward sloping shape to slide off of rocks better
Not sure how you would even touch up that paint if it touches a rock, or if the metal thickness can even handle it

At the end of the day it's your call. Do what makes you happy.
Might depend on the situation. If you got rear-ended by someone last week and their insurance just cut you a $1400 check, I imagine you'd want to hand that check to Relentless Fab for a bumper (or whatever company) if not keeping a part

exactly, some of their stuff is a tolerable exception, such as the roof rack
    Prinsu? $600+
DIY make your own? Many hours of labor time.
Hooke rack? $300, can stand on it, carry things on it, mount stuff to it
OEM $200 overpriced roof rack plastic ugly swinging bars? Belongs in trash

I say do what makes you happy, but don't settle on instant gratification, if it is not what your heart truly desires.

Patience is a virtue. Six months is nothing. Think of it as your Christmahannukwanzika present or new year's resolution to your truck.

The OP mentioned a 6 month wait time. I assume he had a specific bumper/company in mind to have such a specific time frame.

I don't have a dog in this fight, personally (I already have bumpers).

I only offroad on fire roads for the most part, but plan to do some other light offroading some day. This bumper looks fine as I really just want to get rid of my dented stock bumper, and for only $450 shipped it probably can't be that bad. The powder coat seems alright, and I guess you get what you pay for. It mounts to the stock locations and looks decent enough. That other thread describes it pretty well too.

I’ll echo what others said about Hooke products. Had their roof rack on my ‘17. Had to square it up with ratchet straps to get it installed, but once it was up there, it did it’s job, I could stand on it with no issues. After a couple years the powder coating was cracking and showing rust on a couple edges, but I live in Minnesota and never wash my truck, so rust is a way of life.

I was looking at this one from the same company. I like the extra clearance its gonna give but I'm afraid the integrated hitch may fail trying to pull a trailer

I have this bumper. Yes it is from "China" but what isn't. It was a fairly good price ($550 CAD = $440~ USD) at the time too, considering other alternatives are twice the price and you have to paint and/or weld it. The LED pods that come with the bumper are just okay, I wired them into my taillights for reversing. I had to take them apart recently since I noticed water in them. Silicone around the bolts and no issues since.

I've gotten yanked out before backwards using D rings on the bumper and no issues. Two weeks ago I backed into a tree and hit the shackle point. Tree took more damage, whoops haha.
At the end of the day, it's YOUR truck. I'm very happy with the purchase, for a rear bumper you don't need much. I figured the money I saved on the rear, I can spend more on the front.

I bought a Hooke Road roof rack, and honestly, I wish I hadn't. It looks like ****, it was super noisy, until i welded and filled the holes in the front panel, the crappy powder coating was flaking off from day one, and the hardware is rusty garbage. If I had to do it again, I'd have probably just bought a Prinsu.

Mine was super noisy until I removed the front fairing all together and installed a light bar there instead. Went from hurricane sounding winds to almost silent. Was pretty surprising.
